Rod building Shop?
Rod building Shop?
Is there a shop is SoCal that sells blanks, thread etc? I am a real beginner and am looking for a shop that can answer a few questions as well. Thanks! Jim Garrett

I would call Mark over at Performance Tackle in Los Alamitos.
First one in the box settles the nerves!

I would check with the oriental guy that owns hook, line, and sinker over by upper state st. He builds rods.

If you're in the L.A. area I would go to "Sav-On Tackle" in Santa Fe Springs.
You also have "ACIDROD.COM" and they are local in the San Dimas area. They are probably your best bet. They have an awesome website and carry a good selection of rod building material.
The best catalog company for a beginner that is trying to learn would be MUDHOLE.COM. The catalolg is FREE and they have a section in the front of the catalog that is a great primer for beginners.
I learned on Saltwater rods from some of the best in the business in Southern California. I now build on Bass rods. It's addictive once you get the hang of it and if you have an avid imagination.
P.M. me if you have any further questions that I would be more than happy to help you with.
Thanks,
CHUY

Sav-On is awesome... lots of supplies. Also check out Marriot's in Fullerton, if you get a chance... more fly-oriented, but lots of great freshwater supplies and their prices are very good as well - I got my Power Wrapper from them several years ago, and get much of my thread and stuff from them.
