Most of the Delta with the cooling temps, is starting to clear up nicely compared to what we saw with the blooms in July & August. We wuz out west in Sherman on Sunday, and it had a good stain, as did areas around Antioch and Big Break. I think a big part of that was due to the low tides, winds and high level of boating activity out there last weekend. But I've seen a lot of areas in the middle part of the Delta that has gin clear water!

Cooch, what does that type "gin clear" water do to the bass and what areas are you talking about? When the water does get "dirty" whats the best game plan?
Re: dirty water in east delta
Franks Tract was slightly stained and looked good, Dissapointment, Whites etc... much dirtier, and I did notice that places like wards and areas on the main San joaquin were clearer.

Well Griz.......
The bass, seem to be more active in the clear water at this time, much like what we find in the winter here. As far a specific places, I'm gonna take the 5th fer now and allow ya ta venture out and find em on yer own like I have had ta do the past three weeks. I got payin customers I need ta put on fish the next two weeks, I hope ya can appreciate that. It's a tough bite out there right now, finding that clear water has been a key fer me. It's out there, and it's in more areas than most might think. Stick to the Middle Delta, you'll find it.griz01 wrote:Cooch, what does that type "gin clear" water do to the bass and what areas are you talking about? As far as what ta do when it gits dirty, well, I've gone to bigger jigs with bigger trailers, put the rattle back on, and fish it a little deeper, 12-18 feet. I've switched from a brown purple jig to a black blue jig. The other thing is going to lipless cranks, or bigger, deeper diving cranks with big noisy rattles in em. Brighter colors like White and Chartruese, have been working better for me than the natural shads and reds. I've switched from the Baby Brush Hog to the Yamamoto Kreature and a heavier weight on my T-rig. Some guys are starting to catch em on blades, yet I'm not seeing the quality of fish on blades that excites me, so I'm not fishing it much yet. But I think the two biggest factors for me is to fish a little deeper, and slow way down in my presentations.

I fished on the Moke yesterday and was punching the weeds on the out going tide, just fished it where there were fast drop off's into 14 feet and did manage to stick a nice 8.9, water was almost Gin clear. Steve
