BEST FLORO/SPINNING REEL ??
BEST FLORO/SPINNING REEL ??
whats your guys opinions as to the best floro to put on a spinning reel ?? 6-10lb ?? i've been using braid with a floro leader. has been working ok but seems like my partners are getting more bites than me so thought maybe i'd try straight floro .. i didn't like it there when it first came out but i hear its a lot better now as far as loops and trouble .. ??? thanks guys bob g oh yea this is for drop shotting and shaker heads

Give the new Stren or Trilene a try, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Re: BEST FLORO/SPINNING REEL ??
I have tried flouro (segaur invisx) on my spinning reels and went back to braid (braid seems to have fewer problems associated with the twist you get from a spinning reel). I use about a 10 ft flouro leader though, if you use a long enough leader I don't think you will notice any difference on the number of bites you get.

I didn't really like the invizX on my spinning set-up either. It's stiff, and likes to twist and jump off the spool. I was using 10lbs test though. Smaller diameter would have probably worked better.Tobey wrote:I have tried flouro (segaur invisx) on my spinning reels and went back to braid (braid seems to have fewer problems associated with the twist you get from a spinning reel). Recently went to Yo-zuri hybrid that they specify for spinning reels and I'm pretty happy with it. Might give it a try.

I use P-line Flouroclear. It is limp and stays on the reels and is very sensitive and very strong. The cost is very reasonable too.
Re: BEST FLORO/SPINNING REEL ??
Everyone preffers their own brand, I have tried them all. Took me about six months to go through all the brands before I found one I preffered over the others.
Try all the flourocarbon's in the same test and you will know like I did after a while. (I now use Seagar Invis-X , in 6lb.)
Have a buddy that likes berkley vanish and another that likes p-line.
Knowing that it is all personal prefference in the end and they are all expensive, I would start with these three brands first.

Re: BEST FLORO/SPINNING REEL ??
I agree Tobey. the longer leader with braid works better and no sweat on the twist

well i've tried vanish and the only thing that vanished was the fish because my line would break everytime.one trip with that stuff was enough for me.I now use cuda line, cheap and very strong.

You've probably got a thousand answers to this already. However, I'll add my $0.02 here. I've been using the Cabelas Proline flourocarbon ... however, they MIGHT be discontinuing it as they're currently out of stock on most every line weight.
Over the past couple of months I've been testing (and liking a lot) the BPS XPS fluorocarbon line. Overall this line handles better than the Cabelas line. But it's more than double the price of the Cabelas Proline. That said, they're still one of the cheaper lines out there.
Another line that I've played with is the Triple Fish Fluorocarbon. They're one of the cheapest fluorocarbon line out there and they tend to be somewhat smaller diameter for the line weight as compared to others. But I cannot seem to get bulk spools ... filler spools are available through tacklewarehouse.com though. Nearly the price of premium mono ... very attractive because of that!!
Of course if you want to spend more money, I hear the Gamma fluoro is good line and I've been impressed with the Yamamoto Sugoi fluorocarbon. But both are some of the MOST expensive lines out there. Good luck and post what you decide on and why!!
