Competition

Post by CJ13 »

I am new to the bass fishing community (about 1 1/2years) and am interested in fishing some tournaments or club tournaments this coming year. I am in the Ventura area so I fish Casitas, Cachuma, Castaic and Piru mainly. Any suggestions on organizations that I could get started with. Thanks for any info.

Ventura County Bassmasters. Good club. Ask Eric @ Eric's Tackle in Ventura how to get ahold of a current member. Rick G.

CJ,
I'll second Dan on The California Bass Federation, it is a great place to get started in Tournament angling. You live in a great location for it, Region 7 hits all those lakes you mentioned. It is a draw type format. I live up in Paso Robles and fished Region 7 last year and had a blast.

Yo Ray,

How much are the fees for boaters? Looks like a good circuit to fish. CJ Topstick is great, you will learn alot.

$105 with all the options
$25 for a FLW membership (One time Fee)
$20 Ghost Club fee. If you’re not in a club that is not affiliated with the TBF (One time Fee)

Ray at 4am, Priceless :D

Scott,

I'm currently in a club at this time and if they every kicked me out I would consider :D . I’ve been fishing with the Bassin Buddies for 2 years now. I have to say, they are a great group of guys. We are a small club and very family oriented. Not to mention we have a bunch of great sticks in the club like Chris Weir & Ed Uyema who are always willing to sharing their wisdom. I would like to have you at one of our meetings to discuss the opportunities of becoming a club affiliated with the TBF. Let me know so we can set this up.

Our club is low key we have some good sticks, but majority vote is controlled by the "old timers". I've tried to get them to switch to Fed insurance and become more active. Problem is they are set in there ways. Not ever member is gung ho about "tournament" fishing as compared to a bunch of "buddies" gettin together once a month for a friendly competition. It's a good club and I'm getting to old to keep stirring up the pot. 8)

Shoot Terry - thanks for the clarification. I know you to be an authoritative source, so I'll correct my inaccuracy right away... from here on out, I'll be spelling Rae El "Ghey Rhey", or "Rhey" for short. Thank you SO MUCH for the feedback!

CJ13,

You are seeing what California Bass Fed (Region 7) is all about. Its an awsome bunch of guys and you'll have a great time. Ray L is our leader and because of him he has had record turnouts, this should tell you something. Dont be shy, just do it, you wont regret it for a second not to mention it just might be the biggest learning advantage you'll get. Region 7 has ALOT of good sticks, we even the ones that cant keep there rods in the boat

Ryan you are NOT fishing my events. I won't allow it. Not because of the way you spelled my name but because I had to look at that stupid haircut on your partners head at Havasu. How dare you make us see that ugly thing.
Terry I am now boycotting your articles. No more reading them from this guy.
Anyone fishing region 7 and reads Terry's articles you are now at a 4 pound deficit.
Heck I know other writers.... Oh well I guess I better stick with you because you can keep up with me when it comes to beer and saki. When you going to be down this way.... don't tell me next summer again....

Hey Rhey,

I'm not sure when I'll be down there next. The family and I are going to Italy and France next summer for a month so that kinda kills our summer vacation there. I will be in Livermore in January, though, for business.

As far as not reading my articles, I didn't realize you read them. I thought you just looked at the pictures? :-D There isn't any really good info in them anyway. In fact, if you let your competitors read them, they'll get side tracked. LOL.

I'll let ya know before I get down there next. I'd love ta fish with ya. Just don't give me another leg-over, that was kind of awkward. :-D

Later dude.
