Heading out to the Delta area from my home base in Minnesota in a couple of weeks, and I'm looking for a good guide to help me get my first striper (we don't have 'em in Minnesota).
Any suggestions? Probably going to be 2 of us.
Thanks in advance.

You can try Bobby Barrack. He has a link here on the guides page. There's also Barry Canavaro. http://www.fishhookers.com/report.html
They both have excellent reputations. This is pretty short notice for this time of year. Good luck.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I went out with RJ Waldron of North Wind Outfitters. If you've been out the last 2 days, you know its been tough fishing. I've been fortunate enough to spend time with fishing guides in 6 states and 3 countries, and I can honestly say I have never had a guide work harder to put me on fish. While I wish I could show you pictures of the 50 pounder...I didn't catch one. What I did catch were fat, sassy 1 to 7 pound fish that fought unlike anything I fish for in Minnesota. To sweeten the pot, I had hookups twice while listening to how bad fishing was on the marine band radio!
Additionally, my buddy(who lives in San Jose) and I had decided to take his Nitro out today for black bass on the Delta. We let RJ know we were going black bass fishing and he took time - at the END of the day, after carrying our cooler to my rental car- to grab a pen and start circling, writing, and highlighting spots all over the map of the West Delta area we planned to fish.
In short - if you haven't fished with RJ and NWO I believe you are missing out. My opinion? He knows his business, he knows his quarry, he knows his customers... enough said!
Thanks again to all the help I received from this board - I wouldn't have hooked up with RJ Waldron and wouldn't have caught my first striper without all of the input I received here.
If any of you ever get to my part of the country, let me know if I can help you as you have all helped me.

Too bad it was such a tough bite, but sounds like your guides effort paid off none the less. A good guide can make a tough day better by doing all the little things, and to take the time to help you guy's out on some bass spots is doing all the little things.
Hope you stay warm this winter, I know it gets a bit colder in MN than it does around here, who knows global warming may change that

Glad you had an great time with RJ -- He is most definately a true class !!
I am sorry that the bite was not on for you durring your time here..... I know he was on it like crazy earlier and was even getting them on the fly rods he provides. Insane fun !!
He also guides and outfits for Ducks. Many of us book with him yearly to get limits in places he knows that only he can get to -- and where you would not imagine of hunting !!

You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

Hey!
Great to have you guys out, it was a challenging day but you guys had lots of patience! The topwater action in the morning was exciting, glad you had a good time. Thanks so much for the kind words and testimonial! If you get a chance send me over a photo of that swine largemouth you caught! I can't wait to jig for Walleye in MN, I'll look you up when I'm out your way!
Thanks again,
R.J. Waldron
