Konocti Vista Casino

Postby sTony » Mon Oct 15, 2007 7:50 am

I've been in contact with the good folks at Konocti Visa Casino about the recent forum posts. The management at KVC is working closely with us to address all issues and concerns. They really have our best interest at heart. Frankly there really is no better place to run our event,
the Western Rally @ Clear Lake, then at KVC as it is the perfect place for this type of event. I can't think of anywhere else that has the right mix of rooms, launch, amenities, and banquet food. The casino itself adds in a great entertainment option that I know many of our guests look forward to as well.

I have to agree with you sTony..It is too bad that a few (maybe too many) bad experiences have happened..The fact is those same type of events can happen just about anywhere..I think the situation there is far too often the left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing..When they do get their ducks in a row though, they are outstanding..

I stayed at the Konocti Vista Casino this last weekend with my wife. We were awakened by these six people just outside our rooms door at 12 am. Our neighbors just next door had returned from a night out of drinking and they were very LOUD and BANGING on the walls. I opened our door and very LOUDLY let them know that there were people trying to sleep then SLAMED my door shut. To my suprise they did go into their room and were quiet for about ten minutes. Then they were fighting and yelling and BANGING on the wallls again. I called the lobby and told them we are going to check out and to refund our monies. We did pack our stuff up and Konocti did very politly refund our monies.

My wife was very upset with the partiers and the noise that our neighbors were making I too was very upset. At 1:20 am we headed to lakeport to find a room which was very quiet and calm but they were all booked up.... TOTAL BUMMER...... We headed back to Konocti and they did give us a room on the other side of the motel. I do give Konocti's office staff "Tammi" that was her name, a hats off to taking care of our needs and wants. Tammi was very polite and respectful with our demands and wishes. At 2 am we checked back into a different room and had a good night sleep.

I don't blame Konocti Vista Casino for the rude awaking that night nor do I blame anyone but our neighbors for waking us up. The main problem was how upset my wife was with the situation that happened. My wife and I did discuss about ever staying there again. At $140 a night with taxes I did find the whole experience hard to want to return.

At the price they charged you I'd find it hard to return. Makes the rate we got for the Western Rally sound even better.

Bob and I have been attending bass fishing events at Knocoti Vista since its existence. We have no complaints about the treatment we’ve received and with a great room rate. The food quality in the restaurant has gone downhill each year, but we have learned the take out food is good. We haven’t experienced any other places on the lake as accommodating to bass fishermen as well as Knocoti Vista.
With reference to Basstrophy’s experience, maybe we haven’t had any problems because we have been there when the majority of the guests have been bass fishermen, so we are all early-to bed. But the losers he described are running rampant everywhere!!
I do remember Dewayne saying something at the last rally about a guy in the room next to him playing Bob Dylan music thinking he would get his wife excited (you know, in the mood) …kind of late at night and talking a little too loud…. “Com’on hunny, yer gonna love this,â€

Actually, at the last Rally there were some creatures of the night that were extremely disruptive... my Team's partner and his wife were disturbed two nights in a row by some very inconsiderate partiers. No real knock on KVC, although it seems they could certainly use some better security around the 'hotel'.

They charged my CC double for a room in August, and I still don't have a resolution.

I went through it with employees there, and two separate employees over the phone. I was told that they would be crediting my card; it never happened.

I called again last week, and now I have to re-prove with bank statements again that it happened. I get the run around everytime I call the hotel, and I am not happy about it.

I will admit though, that there are many places around the lake that don't really seem to want our business, with the exception of the Skylark in Lakeport.

I don't know guys,
No disrespect to tunaman or basstrophy, but isnt that just a fact of the nature of staying at a motel, especially one that is associated and connected to a casino?

I dont like getting woken up in the middle of the night either, but i just go with it when i'm staying at places like that because i've been on both sides of the shoe there. Either trying to sleep at 10 or 12midnight only to have party goers just get going, or plan a fun weekend trip out of town and stay up all night and party, gamble, and make some roucous noise with my wife in the hotel room.

If i wanted absolute peace and quiet, where no alcohol served after 5pm, no kids allowed, lights out by 10pm, no skinny dipping in the pool, and no wall banging in the bedroom, then i would go to a Marriot.

Staying at a Motel 6, or KVC hotel doesnt afford those expectations - at least to me!

Keep in mind that there's a flip side too that we've heard many, many times about other quests very much complaining that they are in bed, sleeping, only to be woken by some crazy fisherman getting up before the crack of dawn, cranking over loud diesal trucks, yelling at the boat docks, and motoring with 200 engines at 5am. They want to sleep in and we didnt allow that to happen.

They party all night, we get up at the crack of dawn!
These are just again what i expect when i stay at KVC.

What if KVC said great - no more loud noises after 10pm so guests can sleep, but also no more boat launching until 8 or 9am to avoid waking guests too.

Now, who's complaining?

At the Columbia River the National Guard would touch off a couple artillery rounds each morning for blastoff. This was just across the the marina from a nice Mariott (I believe) motel. Yea, us fisherman can be a pain in the rear too, it's just a matter of perspective.

While I have had issues at KVC I have also had issues at numerous other motels. I remember one where it was prom night and there were many rooms loaded with high schoolers who partied untill 4:00am. There was the leaking roof at the motel in Oroville on a night it rained 3 inches. I had 10 garbage cans placed around the room so it did not flood. There was Angel's Camp where a couple fishermen blocked the exit of the parking lot then decided to sleep in on tournament morning trapping 30-40 of us. Then there are the fishermen at every motel I seem to visit that get up at 3:30 for a 7:30am blast off and always seem to run into their friend outside my room.

Interupted sleep just goes with living out of motel rooms.

absolutely amazing how we can experience some of the best and some of the worst from our fellow competitors..You are correct in your statement about residing in motel rooms..You never know what you are going to run into..The best you can hope for is often far from the reality of it..

We stayed at a motel in Oroville last year for the ABA Toc and a week earlier someone was murdered there. I'll take a little noise!

Cannon blasts at FLW on the Columbia

Postby Rod Rinta » Tue Oct 16, 2007 4:27 pm

Dewayne, you just gave me a chuckle. I remember sitting in that marina, looking at that cannon, and thinking, "Oh, those poor people that are sleeping in that motel. They're in for a rude awakening in about 5 minutes". BOOOOM....BOOOOM!!! I swear, every single occupied room on that south side had curtains flying open with people looking out thinking World War 3 had just started. I even could see one poor sap who was jogging on the treadmill just about fall off the thing when those shots went off. The funny thing was, I anticipated it all happening again for the next two days, and it just got funnier and funnier. lmao!!

That cannon at the colombia was LOUD! The Marriott lit up like a christmas tree. We were right next to it.. Scared the crap out of me and I knew it was going to happen. I am staying at Konocti Harbor. Has anyone had big problems there? Im bringing ear plugs either way.

Konocti harbor was decent last time I stayed there...Someone did steal my extention cord from in front of the room though. I forgot about it when I went fishing in the morning and it was gone when I got back. I just chalked that one up to me being stupid and not putting it back in the room before i left...
