I haven't received one since March either. Mark puts out a fine magazine, and I wish him all the success in the World, but enough is enough.

Mark has mentioned on this forum before that if we don't receive the mag in a timely fashion, to contact him directly. He provided a phone #.

I don't know what the problem is with delivering the magazine on time, but personally, I don't want to, nor will I, call their office each time the subscription is late.

Once I've paid my subscription, I EXPECT to receive the magazine in a timely manner. The quality of the magazine is not in question. It's an excellent publication, but I will not be renewing my subscription.

Let me say this one more time, before I get slammed. I wish Mark much success. His magazine is excellent. Great articles.

If the delivery problems are ever solved, I will probably renew my subscription.

This next issue is at the printer and is worth the wait ! Getting the Publication into a timely schedule is the goal and its slowly getting there. If you are more concerned with when you get a magazine than you are of the what's in the magazine go with Bassin Magazine or California game and fish. Each Bass West issue is totally built from scratch and not a template. We will get there but it is taking some time. For a little over 2 bucks a issue have some patience and enjoy the Mag.

I don't really understand...

The publishers have been on here before to answer questions and one thing they made specifically clear was that they do not publish a magazine every month. They put out about 8 magazines a year so why would you expect one monthly? I'm confused why folks are so impatient with this book when it sems to me that this magazine will be delivered in a timely manner. Yes, there was a bit if wait ont he last book but I'd rather see a quality book then a rushed one anytime.

Yes, I feel a bit of frustration when my Bass West fails to arrive on time. I really don't know what on time is as most issues arrive when they do. I do love the publication and the customer service I recieved from them has been great. I failed to recieve an issue for almost 6 months :( , called them and left a message. Got one back issue a week later and the other the following week :) . That made up for it no worries. I know it is very difficult to put together a publication like that. Some of the frustration lies in the fact that almost every other publication out there is garbage and I want my Basswest NOW! Hopefully they will be able to get er out on time more often in the future, I have heard this grumble among most if not all of my friends that subscribe.

As a Charter Member i've rode the waves with Bass West. I've been frustrated  & contented :D .
I bought a 5 year subscription with their first publication.
I`ve not been unhappy with any issue . The magazine is truely top of the line.
Yes, i would like to have my mag.on time..
YES it has always been worth the wait.
Donna has always been a class act in any conversation i`ve had with her.
I have 6 grandsons that are going to be reading these magazines soon, & i dont know of ANYWHERE they can get the same quaility info except on the water with Granpa..........

Bottom Line........ I'm sticking with them. till it comes together. or falls apart.

Has anyone gotten additional information about the newest issue, or (dare I ask) actually received the magazine yet?

Thanks,

I grumbled in an earlier post about the delays in receiving BassWest magazine. I still think I had a valid complaint.

What I don't want anyone to misunderstand, is that I think it is a fine magazine.

My ONLY complaint was the timeliness of delivery. If and when Mark can rectify that problem, I will probably renew my subscription.

If it was an easily solved problem, I'm sure Mark would have already fixed it. I'm just as sure that it will be solved eventually.

What I objected to, in addition to my original complaint, was Mark's cavalier comment about "if you want timely delivery, subscribe to Bassin' or F&G" (paraphrased).

I have no personal ax to grind with Mark, nor with his fine magazine......just a refusal to accept late delivery.

Nothing in this post is intended to disrespect or discredit Mark or his publication.

Best of luck to you Mark, and much success. I'll renew MY subscription when delivery is timely.

What to Expect From Bass West USA

Post by Guest »

First off, thanks to all of you, who enjoy the magazine and spread the word of its quality. We do appreciate the fine feedback we get from most of our subscribers.

Everyone involved in putting this magazine together, From Mark (the owner) on down to the writers, Contributing Pros and myself as editor work our tails off on every issue and it feels good to know its appreciated for the most part.

Although, I do understand some of the complaints about timeliness and can assure you we are rectifying the problem immediately.. However, I must mention a couple things..

1. There really has been no Scheduled Date for delivery.. So how do you define late? Although, I am putting a schedule together now.. so you can all mark your calendars! The tentative schedule you can find below..

2. The magazine comes out approximately every 2 months (7 issues a year, thanks sTony for the kind words, but it has always been 7 not 8 and I don't need any extra work) The fact it isn't a monthly magazine makes it seem late, even if it was on time, which it WILL BE.

3. The latest issue is out and mailed last week... and has been arriving on doorsteps this week. I've already got a few calls on some of the cool stuff in this issue.

4. The next issue is 80% done and will be mailed right before ICast, Early July. This will put us at 3 issues in July about 15-20 days off of our internal schedule.

5. I will not, and nor will Mark, allow any of us to put out an issue before it is of high quality. Before I had anything to do with Bass West USA I read the thing cover to cover, literally! This will always be the case... every article, every piece of the magazine should either be entertaining, informative or instructional and the entire thing should be enjoyable and not regurgitated material.

6. All subscriptions are not for 12 months, 365 days, 52 weeks.. etc.. etc.. ... All subscriptions are for 7 issues...

Before I was the Editor of the magazine I personally designed and created the software to manage the subscriptions.. Last year we ported all subscribers over from the old system which was housed somewhere else in the world.... to a database that is now housed locally and maintained locally... If you have a problem, Donna or Teresa or someone else in the office can check it out while you are on the phone and make the change right then and there.

Back to my point.. the 7 issues, means even if we fall a little behind you still get the number of issues you paid for.

Again, I agree the timeliness is important.. but, quality is #1 to to us at Bass West, if we have to have only 1, then we will take the quality... However, we plan to give to our subscribers immediately.

We will work on the timeliness... All we ask is that you enjoy the magazine and remember - ITS EVERY OTHER MONTH... NOT EVERY MONTH and its 7 Issues, not a year... which means you get everything you paid for, no matter how long it takes!

Below is the tentative schedule for the next 18 months.. Which will get us on the schedule we would like to be on. Keep in mind the actual Publishing (printing) company can create undue delays as they did with the issue arriving now.. From the time they got the mag to the time it was mailed was almost 3 weeks.. We have worked with them and it shouldn't happen again!

Here is the schedule.. (Subject to adjustments) (Mailing dates not arrival dates)

2nd week in July
4th week in August
1st Week in October
2nd Week in November
Last Week in December

2006 Schedule

2nd week in February
2nd week in April
2nd week in June
2nd week in August
2nd week in October
2nd week in November
Last week in December

THESE ARE MAILING DATES... NOT ARRIVAL DATES!!!!

Notice the three issues near the end of the year... This is when we fish less and spend more time at home with the families (holidays, inclimate weather, lock jawed bass... etc.. etc.. ) so we can stay home, save money and read up to prep for the next season....

Happy Fishing....

Please send any comments on the magazine directly to me..

Since there is no set date for the magazines to be mailed out maybe you should quit putting dates on them.

The publishing time of the magazine does matter. I wonder how many pre-spawn and bed fishing articles will be in the current issue?

The magazine is good but its not really any better then Bassmaster or Bassin. I think people think its better because of the nice glossy pics that the others lack.

Good luck with the magazine and figure out a way to get the magazine out on time.

Mark. Your magazine is like sex, I get it when it comes and not always on a regular basis, but when it does I fully enjoy it. So keep them coming and I, like most subscribers, will stick with you.
Just my thoughts re. the issue. Bill K  :D :D

Bass West delivery schedule

Post by troutnut »

Tom, I think it would be prudent and a good business practice to put your delivery schedule on BASSWEST.com website.

That way new, returning, and current subcribers have some idea of when to expect their eagerly awaited newest issue of bass porn.
( I can hardly wait!)
