My son won a fully guided trip in a contest last summer with Captain R.J. and he is so stoked about having that experience !!

It is my understanding that the refuges, at least Sac Valley refuges don't open on the opener. I heard they will open the second weekend. Can anyone substantiate that?

Lone Angler, I don't hunt the refuges so I have not checked on when they will open this year. The reason that they sometimes open late is not to push the birds off the refuges before the majority of the rice has been harvested. I don't know about the entire valley, but in the area around my club (just west of Delevan refuge) the harvest has almost been completed.
