Saturday and was fishing the last cove at the ramp before I left.I noticed a Bass boat had just launched and as I watched it idle out like we all do I noticed something didnt seem right.
Finally it dawned on me it didnt have an electric motor.Well when he got past the five mile bouy's he gased it and literaly jumped out of the water and had to back off the throttle then take off.He had the loudest outboard I've ever heard before.
Watched and listened to him while I was getting ready to leave in the parking lot.
been fishing san antonio a bit lately, that boat is a single , center console, some sort of fast a@@ boat. he will sit idling in middle of lake , wait for jet , or bass boat to come, then fire it up and smoke em. super fast , cant remember what kind of boat it was .

So he must be the type who needs attention and/or has something to prove then...
I remember now, it was an allison wiht center console. Im die hard bass fisherman get pretty annoyed with ski boats, jet skis, and pleasure boaters, but I was impressed with the speed of this boat.
If that was Gary Finch I believe that boat is for sale and had been in the photo ad for awhile. It is a Allison and I believe he said it was a 90 to 95 mph boat?
I once had a customer from the Lake San Antonio area that had an Allison that would "only go 96 mph", he came to me complaining that it wasn't running properly.
When I was done with it he said it would run 104!
I did not offer to test drive it for him!
I haven't seen him in a while, could be him?
Nelson
Gary go fast, and it does, he had a champion that he fishes off of, good stick on the central coast,, or for that matter any lake, tip your hats to this man, wife had problems a few years back, loved to fish also, he rigged her up some really ingenius stuff so she can still compete. they are generally pretty awesome together and good people.
Was told by a new acquaintance I was being talked about here. Yep he was right.
As to sitting in the middle of the lake waiting for takers, YES, quilty as charged.
Loud, with the prop shaft 1/4" below the pad ANY outboard will be loud. I do have a SuperTrap muffler on it, so I do try to keep it quiet.
Not as loud as an earlier Champion, I needed ear plugs.
"So he must be the type who needs attention and/or has something to prove then..." Yep, most people take pride in what they do. Built the motor and rigged the boat myself. I are a grease monkey.
No, the boat is not for sale. It will go faster then I want to go, but I set it up to be Quick not Fast!
"Go fast Gary in a Allison :shock"
I've heard this somewhere before.
Again guilty as charged.
1994 XB2003 Allison Bass boat, 200 EFI JohnRude with a few alterations, 16" mid section, Merc Sports Master lower unit 1.62 gear ratio, blah, blah, blah.......
The gimp(wife) had a stroke is now left handed and still loves to fish. We fish out of the Champion. Although she isn't able to cast more than 20' she still does alright for a gimp. Cachuma lake tournament big fish held up for big fish of year. Won Bass team at Lopez, she found the fish below the boat and with that knowledge we came in 2nd place.
Mike,
The exact replacement gearcase was no longer available for Mark P.'s motor.
Mercury provided me with a superseded Torquemaster style gearcase with nose and conventionaly located water pickups. I think it also is a 1.75:1 gear ratio.
Nelson Gong
Nelson, is the water impeller a high volume low pressure type, he made the commit he did not have the same pressure as before, I told him it was probably the same as mine I hav a 2000 225 efi with a torque master Mike
