Terrorists starting the fires?

Post by DougH »

I think that there are "soft" cells living in So Cal that are sympathetic to the terrorist/Al-Quiada (sp?) cause, and every time we have this weather combination they all drive around and throw lit cigarettes out the windows.
How else can we have so many fires pop up at the same time?

CAREFUL!!! Unless you have witnessed this with your own eyes, careful with pointing fingers. This is a very sensitive subject, and if you use the "T" word you might have the FBI knocking on your door...

Doug,
I think you're really reaching. After all, we've had fires in SoCal forever. The Native Americans who lived here before the Spaniards came call L.A. the "Valley of Smoke".
It's tempting to blame everything on other people, especially terrorists, but it seems to me that we need to look in the mirror for this. Aside from the nutter/jerkoff arsonists, the reason these fires are so costly, and sometimes fatal, is because we keep building farther and farther into the hills. Santa Ana winds knock down power lines because we put power lines there, and houses are lost because houses are there.
Unless, of course, you think the developers, and the politicians who gave them the go-ahead, are terrorists.
I'm afraid this is the price we pay for our lifestyle.

I suppose I'm goin off half cocked here a bit, I'm just frustrated that we have so many, so fast this time, that affects so many people. Sometimes it seems a bit weird. I guess you're right, we're reaching out too far...

I think it's time to blame either G.W. or Hilary, or both. We blame them for everything else!

Probably not...
but it just goes to show that if they wanted to stir **** up nothings stopping them and they could do it. So much stress on nukes and such when there are a million other scenarios that could still be so devastating.

Likely a couple of sick kids. :x

Extremely regional in impact... not what a true terrorist organization would be looking for. This is largely a bunch of sick ba$tards who get their kicks watching flames, with perhaps an incident of sheer circumstance thrown in.

Happens every year to a certain extent... the bigger the Santa Ana event, the worse it is and the more crazies it brings out.

Do you remember the fire Captain that was caught starting over 2000 fires in a 20 year span. I remember watching something about how they caught him. He is doing life.

We all can carry guns here like a bunch of neandrethals. The five things we are allowed to shoot and kill for are murder in progress, armed robbery in progress, rape in progress, child molestation in progress and arson in progress. Arson is such a serious crime it deserves to be a capital offense. I am very sorry for your disaster and hope the guys from here are helping to get the fires under control. I doubt it was anything but lunatics as usual.

Why is carrying a gun being a Neanderthal? I won't go into all of the legal/moral issues, but why does protecting yourself make you a neanderthal?

I have a carry permit for 38 states (my wonderful state, the Peoples Republik of Californistan) does not think that I am worthy to do so. I carry for one reason, I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Gator-that was my attempt at sarcasm. I was one of the first to get a CC permit 12 years ago and I am a twitch away from a weapon just about 100% of my life. I just grew up here and think that is my right.

As a military intelligence soldier and some one with an open mind, I would say all states have sympathizers. But it is something different to say that they are setting fires. Why waist time on fires when you could go after people or water supplies???
Please don't get off !!!
