Bill just called me and said that he has cancelled the tournament for Sunday because the smoke is pretty bad in the area around DVL. He said that he didnt want to cancel it but he said the lake is closed today and figures it will still be bad on sunday and doesnt want to put anybody at risk over a tournament. He asked me to come on here and post it for him because he's busy. He will also be at the lake on Sunday to tell people that dont frequent this site.
When I got there yesterday at about 2:00pm there was no smoke around and by the time my son and I left the lake at 6:00 the smoke had rolled in pretty good. Kyle was out there today and was kicked off at 9:30. Good Striper bite. Rick G.

Rainchecks would have gone a long way in the Public Relations column. On top of the gas everyone burned to get there. Rick G.

I just got back from getting kicked off of Diamond Valley after a hour and half of fishing. After cleaning my boat, I went to the concession stand to get a refund and got behind a person who rented a boat for the whole day. He was very nicely requesting his money back or a raincheck. The guy behind the counter on the other hand, acted as if it was his own money he was giving back and told him NO REFUNDS. When the individual asked for the managers phone number, he smuggly said "I only have his work number and you'll never get him".
It is very frustrating to take a day of from work and make all of the necessary preparations to go fish only to get kicked off the lake....but to get kicked off and not get a refund is just wrong.
It comes back the same thing I hear on this forum, "Diamond Valley is a great fishery and we are lucky that we get to fish there"....just because it is a great fishery doesn't give anybody the right to be rude or treat you any less than a paying customer.
I hope somebody talks to the powers that be and shed some like on this matter.....and it is not about the $16, I spent twice that much on the Huddleston that went flying two hundred yards after my line broke during my first cast of the day.
I think it's just a little early to make a call like that. The wind will be changing direction and is supposed to blow 15 to 20 mph... The smoke coming in from San Diego will be going the other way...
I'm going through withdrawls... gotta fish.
I think that the problem is with the winds coming from the West. That's the prevailing wind. The smoke is pretty bad today in Murrieta, but certainly not like last Monday or Tuesday. Oh well, probably better not to breath all of them carcinogens anyway. Sucks though when you are itching to fish the WON.
guys... com-on... we all know the weather if we are bass fishermen... it's gonna change, you know how to read the winds. Sunday will be clear, warm and clean... I wanna fish...
