Thanks for sharing link. We had a thread going on boat handling; trim to plane question. Some times boaters forget what they are doing, minds on something else wham..another boating accident.
Running at speed on unfamilar water is a common mistake.
Be safe, driver carefully. Pray for fellow basser.

Quoted from another site:
"He told me that David has severe head trama, around 200 staples in his head, face, neck, and back he has a broken sternum,2 broken ribs,a busted spleen (I think) also the 2 vertabre (spelling)at the base of his skull that seems to be what the doctors are the most concerned with, they will be doing surgery on Monday as long as the swelling has gone down."
From what I understand, he hit a stump in shallow water and tore the 250 Yammy HPDI off his Z22 and it pinned him against the dash before landing on the front deck and bouncing out into the lake!!!
I think it was Friday but could have been Thursday, the winds were sustained @ 30mph and gusting to 45mph straight out of the south/southwest....I can see how this happened in those conditions......Many boats tore up during the Regionals this past week on KY Lake.

Scary stuff indeed!
I am lucky to have a motor on the back of my boat.
I ran up to Laughlin in practice an the WonBass Team championship. Was kinda tired as I didn't get in to Havasu until 2-3 am. Made it up to Riviera/River Bend without issue. Couldn't find the depth of water I wanted to run in to continue up, so I fished a bit there and decided to head back down and fish in more sane water. Well to make a long story shorter, at one of the rock bars (this one was in the center of the River), I went left instead of right
and got lucky there was enough water to run my boat (got down to 1.6 feet of water on the graph). I did hit a rock, just as I thought I was clearing the bar, that brought the boat to a momemtary stop (enough to pop me off the seat too), first thought that went threw my pea brain was there goes the motor. Since it happened right as I was getting over the bar, I shut 'er down immediately as I had gotten into deep enought water and trimmed up the motor expecting to see missing parts. Got Lucky! only a couple of small chunks out of the skag and dinged up lead egdes of my blades. At that point I was just praying to get back to Park Moabi with working boat. Quite a scary event!
It would have been real easy for me to have the same thing happen to me, except there would have been no one around to help me

David is home...
Last report is that David is home now. He sustained severe lasserations to his head from the prop on the outboard when it flew forward. The bolt on the Jackplate broke when he hit a stump at about 45 mph.
He stopped to make sure his fish still had plenty of water on them. The winds were blowing so hard they blew him well out of the channel. He got back up on plane before realizing he was out of the channel. Was an honest mistake, which makes it scarier.
He had a broken sternum, broken ribs, lots of stiches on his head and he reaggrivated a neck injury he had in a farming accident.
Keep him in your prayers.
PS. Sources say he had 18 pounds in the well when he was running and was on the fish to win. He's lucky to be alive more less walking and talking.
