The lake sucked for about a month. Over the past week things have started to turn around. Jigs,Jigs, Jigs. Fish them in 12-25 foot
off any point. Brown and purple (peanutbutter and jelly). Also DD22's, get it down and hit the brush in about 12-25 foot.

Man, I miss that lake. I used to fish it in the early 1980's, and I won a couple of tournaments there using Rapala Ice Jigs long before anyone knew what I was doing!

Hi,

We went to Vail Lake on Friday, we got 1 fish on a Blue/Chart crank but didn't land it. 1 big boil on a green frog, but didn't get it. Next I used a new worm I got at the Bass-A-Thon, it looked like a salmander with legs, in a smoke with purple on a drop shot, small leader. The next 6 fish loved this bait, I couldn't get it out fast enough. 6 fish with in 1/2 hour, average size 1 to 1-1/2-lbs fish. My partner was using 6" texas, from Aarons magic to Purples. The major amounts of fish came in bunches. Finial the wind came up around 2:00pm and I caught 2 of the largest of the day. A 2-1/2 and a 3-3/4-lber on texas, using a R082 I got for Don Pedro. (Light rootbeer red/flake)

Ended the day at 4:30, with about 40 fish. Not a bad day of fishing for November.

You wouldn't want to invite your board friends to Vail for a little fun tournament? You may learn a lot about the lake.

im only 26 , but my dad fished that place forever.. i remember getting taken out of school every thursday to fish it..we camped there every weekend out by the main road and all those tall trees where the trailer is now..i miss that lake..my pops boated many double digit fish there in spooks. The old school dd 22's in TN shad is deadly there. i took my mom there on mothers day and she even boated a 5lb plus on a 10inch purple power worm..i wish that lake was public...thats where i learned to fish growing up... >>. anybody remember butch and his big rott that ran the rental boats...i must have only been 5 years old, but i remember that rott would always carry around a bowling ball in its mouth...sweet crappie lake too.
