This is the NorCal version of the popular TV show Survivor. In order to win today’s Tourney you must solve the following:
You are placed on your boat in Franks Track and have exactly 45 minutes to pull your boat out of the only registered exit of Franks. The only way of telling time is the two oddly shaped double wicked candles and 4 matches the TD has given you. You and your non-boater have 30 seconds to formulate a strategy before the horn blows.
--Each candle burns for exactly one hour
--You are not allowed to manipulate the candles in any way.
--You are not allowed to use anything else but the two candles and four matches to gauge your time.
--Remember---45 minutes exactly!!!
--One second too soon---Disqualified!!!
--One second too late---Disqualified!!!
Clock starts……..NOW!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK

Re: Survivor: Delta
This is a tough one, every time I try this one the wind blows out my candles. And then there is the large waves comming over the bow that extinguish the candles, and now I have melted wax all over my console. I dont think it is possible at this time of year.
CHANGE is not a destination, and HOPE is not a strategy!
Re: Survivor: Delta
Light the first candle on both ends and the second candle at only one end. When the first candle burns out you know 30 minutes have passed. Light the other end of the second candle and when it burns out, 45 minutes have passed.
Re: Survivor: Delta
Is this a trick question? Are there any registered exits of Frank's Tract?
Re: Survivor: Delta
CrayFish got it good job...i use to ask this question at the beginning of every 6 week class I would teach to new aircraft mechanics and only 3 got it within the 6 weeks.
