Cal Fed Non-Boaters - What to bring?
Cal Fed Non-Boaters - What to bring?
Looking for tips on what to bring for my first fed tourney. I know we have to keep our tackle down to a minimum, I have a small tackle bag, but how many rods should I take? Also, should I bring a small cooler for water/lunch? Thanks in advance....

Ralph,
Usually a small boat bag and 4-6 rods (too many rods gits tough to manage and you spend most of the day untangleing them) is adequate. Most guys will let you put your stuff in the boat cooler. Definately bring fluids and some snacks as you see fit. I need to eat through the day myself or my blood sugar gits out of whack and I become a miserable ol' cuss so I usually keep an handul of Clif Bars or equiv in the boat.
Bring your confidence baits and a small variety of extra baits to cover the various water columns just in case, 'cause you never know what the boater is going to do.
See ya thar!

Ralph... just bring
the standard quiver of 4-6 rods and basic tackle selection for Cashtaic. Most, if not all, of the guys have boats that can accomodate your gear. Of course you could be paired with Troy or Gary, fishing in -edit- cove while throwing -edit- , then all would need is one rod and one bait. LOL.
Keep in mind, if you forget something or the fish are biting something you don't have, you're boater will be more than willing to help you out.

ha ha ha ha your funny Gary! Low blood sugar makes you cranky. LMAO what about the other 23.5 hours of the day.
Congrats at Castaic. You and Troy whipped everybody again.
