Don Pedro and ABA, very upset...
....that we didn't get more support (more teams) for this event.
I fished my first tournament at Pedro in 1986, it was the Miller Night team tournament. It was an honor for me to have my Son fish his 1st event here with ABA last Saturday, and it was a little chilly. In 1986, I know we had over 100 boats, granted, it was summer time.
I really appreciate what Robert is doing (not to down A/C, because I think the world of Danny Peluso). At the sign in Robert had Black lights illuminating the the tables (3 of them, so people wouldn't be over crowded). He had Hot coffee (and maybe doughnuts, didn't look 'cus I'm on a fat burning battle).
The weigh-in had a seperate large digital read out so the crowd or angler could see the weight that Robert was looking at, as well.
The awards...I am tearing up just writing this...my son got a trophy for being the top finisher under 13 yrs old (glad it was 25 degrees that morning and no little ones wanted to fish) at his 1st event along with over $200 worth of tackle, Woo Hoo!!
And as we ate the Carne Asada Taco's that Robert provided, he also had the money pay-out stapled to multiple wood posts for the day's money for each paid position with option pay-outs. Super organized and I hope we at least double the teams at McClure in January. I was wondering how much time and effort it takes Robert and his Girlfriend to set-up and clean-up?? They really are working Hard for the fisherman.
Great Job Robert Manzo!!!!! And Thank You,
Dan Sexton

hey dan... thanx for the great comments... i sure hope people are spreading around how pleased they have been w/my events so far.. it takes jamie and i a couple hours to set up everything and about an hour to take down... not to mention the "free" bbq @
every event"!!!! i know i go waaaaaaay beyond what the other circuits are doing for the fisherman, and i just hope people are goint to start supporting this circuit....i know tons of fisherman read these posts and i just want you to know, "i run a tourney just how i would want someone to run one if i was fishing in theirs... alot of people are waiting for the 100% to kick off... they fish it because of the payback!!!!! well guess what, give me 80-90 teams @ one of my events, and i "promise you", you will be blown away w/ the payback!!!!!!!!!not to just the top finishers, but down the line!!!!!!! i am the first guy for aba to try a semi-pro region, our first event was sun...we had "3" teams!!!!!! i still gave away plaques to top "3", custom hooded sweatshirts to 1st... custom long sleeve t's to 2nd... and custom t's to 3rd... first out of the $$$ gets an incredable sponsor bag full of stuff.. i still did a "free" bbq.. this is what i do @ "every event!!!! if you fisherman want a circuit that listens to your ideas and is "seriously doing this for you, the fisherman," then you need to come and see for yourself...go to www.americanbass.com...motherlode,semi-pro motherlode, and motherlode mid-week!!!!!!! see ya on jan 2..mid week event

And don't forget about...
...You post the results "the DAY OF THE EVENT". Who else will do that??
And thank you Jamie, too (what an awesome helper).
PS. I would post the winning$ with the result$. Castmasters drew 40 plus boats on Saturday, we drew 20 plus and 1st place got over $1800, 3rd was over $800. 10th got $20 plus tackle...I wonder how much 1st and 10th place made at McClure?

Re: And don't forget about...
With all respect to American Bass & Robert, I dont think its quite right Dan to compare a $275.00 entry tourney to a $130.00 entry tourney. The Castmasters tourney was to help raise money for there club, so yes it was a tourney designed to make a proffit for the club plus the late fees were donated to a charity. Again no disrespect as i hope to make a few of the mid week events. Keep up the good work Robert and the teams will take note and soon join ya.

Re: And don't forget about...
Dan, since your asking........for $130.00 (options included in this price). Here was our payout.
1st $1420.00
2nd $808.00
3rd $957.00
4th $448.00
5th $240.00
6th $455.00
7th $170.00
8th $150.00
Once again Dan, that's all for $130.00.The reason we drew double the boats probably has alot to do with the lower entry fees. John

Re: And don't forget about...
american bass entry is $130 options not included..... w/ 42 boats no option $$$$$ 1st is $1200!!!!! nobody has to get in the options.... add option $$$$ to that,,,,, now thats a pay check

Re: And don't forget about...
Robert, hope you didn't take my comments as an attack on you or ABA,personally I don't even know you and have never fished an ABA circuit. I do know Dan, and was just responding to his question. In my answer was also my personal opinion that with the economy, gas prices, and the holidays around the corner, our lower entry fee was the reason for drawing more boats. Personally I think if there was an organization out there that offered a low cost circuit, they'd probably have the biggest following around. Good Luck, John

Robert, so is there any chance that you might come out with a low cost circuit?

Re: And don't forget about...
Vince,
I hope that you guys didn't think I was attacking the Castmaster "fund-raiser", If your event had fallen on another date, I would have been there. Since I promised my Son a full season, I was bound to the ABA on this day. I do think the anglers and Friends like yourself deserve to know what is going on with ABA, because I feel it is worth a look.
Thats all.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your Family,
Dan

Re: And don't forget about...
Hey Dan, I know you are not the type at all to bash on any body or any circuit. I dont and havent belonged to the castmasters for almost 5- 6 years or so now so no harm there. I just thought if your gonna compare the two keep it apples to apples. Anyhow maybe i will see you out there soon. By the way not to get off topic but with no AC pro-ams, what you fishing next year? Talk to you soon bud and Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you and your family as well.
