How About Some Milage Reports?

Post by DeltaDan »

Some time recentley we traveled to Pine Flat Lake for the teen's tourney.

We were loaded up wih all our camping supplies and food/dog/clothes/fuel/gear for 3 days of fishing and towed our boat down fully rigged.

On the way down we followed Jason C driving at 55-58mph. On arrival to the camp grounds- the 'puter on the truck showed us at 19.9 gph.

After the tourney- we had to wind the rubber bands tight (with A/C running) to make baseball awards team party back in Oakley by 1800- We averaged 73-75mph till the 205 where we bacame stuck in traffic at a snails crawl till Grant St. Smooth driving from then on till home.

At hope the puter showerd 17.6 gpm for the round trip.

Not to shabby. But I would of loved to seen what a hand calcualtion would come out at overal gpm. Unfortunaltely my wife just pumps it and moves on again.

Whats is everyone else doing?

You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

I have an 06' chevy 1500 4-dr and get about 13mpg when towing the boat. The lift, tires and 20's don't help save gas either though.

While the mileage appears to be better with a Diesel (and I have definetly considered one myself DURAMAX), I cringe at the thought of paying $3.60-$3.70 per gallon for fuel. Makes that savings go right out the window. Would now probably consider a gasser Chevy or GMC k2500 4x4 with the 6.0L as I'm also looking to get a camper, so longbed is a must too. Think you'd wind out ahead even consideringthe mileage vs fuel costs!!!
