Post by npangler »

What are the pros & cons, I know both boats are the same
length and compartment configuration is different.

i thought the couger was 20' and the puma was 21'? I have a pantera classic 19' and love it, i'm sure you can't go wrong with either. that being said, i have never been in a cougar but i have been in a puma and it was laid out awesome, i thought. but hey, what do i know, i'm a basscat man through and through.

There's a great discussion about this on the Bass Cat Owners Board at Bass Cat's web page. The new cougars have triangular live wells, and carry the gas tanks farther aft, and a few more differences are mentioned.

P.S. it's a Cougar- like older women who like younger men.

For the money the Cougar is da bomb, for the luxury the PUMA is AWESOME! I have been in both boats and they are equallly impressive. If you want more storage compartments etc... the puma is the way to go.

Dean Sault will be selling his PUMA with the E-Tec 225HO hanging on the back the boat is red white and blue and is a great boat.

I personally have a 97' Classic and love my boat it suites me very well. If I had the garage space the Cougar with an E-Tec would suite me very well

Well, I would say Triton but since you had Basscat Question I would say this. The cougar is a nice boat, its layed out real well "too old school for me" but my only concern would be those new triangle hole's for the well. I was at the Wildcard and watched Elton luce try to pull the head of a 10 1/2 out, and it was hard to say the least. He had to try 3 or 4 positions before he could get it out.

That would annoy the hell out of me, I catch those all the time

Ranger, Champion, Stratos all = Genmar, http://www.genmar.com/

and click the freshwater fishing button. Prior to the buyouts, all great boats IMHO. Anywhere they can save a buck they do. Now for the question, Cougars now have some rear storage believe it or not and the hull is brand new for 08, not sure if the puma hull got the switch or not. New wells look abit weird and apparently have some issues as aformentioned trying to get a biggun back out. Center of gravity is the biggest difference I think, the puma has the main fuel cell under the seats and two saddles far aft along with the batteries, the cougar puts all of that far aft. I know this changes top end abit and ride for sure. Oh, both boats 20'4" but wider this year, woot...
