Indoor Boat Storage

Post by Clark »

I need to find a place to store my boat in a safe, secure, inside location for the next 6 months to one year.

I would prefer to store it somewhere in the South Bay, but am not opposed to storing it close to the Delta, farther south near Hollister, or even around Tracy or Modesto.

Any suggestions for indoor public storage facilities are appreciated. Its a 19 foot boat with jackplate and outboard, so it needs a space 24 - 25 feet long.

Thanks!

If Sacramento isn't too far out of the way for you, consider Valet Indoor RV & Boat Storage. They're north of downtown, right off I-5 and close to the Delta.

Their facility is a large, well lit, well maintained warehouse and they store mainly RVs, boats, collector cars and bus/limo fleets. Access is during business hours but you can call ahead to have you boat brought out to the yard for after hours pickup (they have a good security gate and cameras). They can also wash your boat and plug in the battery charger when requested.

Been using them going on three years now (still looking for a house) and they're a good business. The initial fee was $119/month but it's gone up a bit.

Thanks fish_food!

That's a great suggestion and Sacramento definitely is not too far. I probably should have wrote "anywhere within about 200 miles of San Jose"

Their website shows their monthly for a 26' and under boat is $129. I had a moving company quote $150 per month to put it in their indoor storage and I would not even have access to it.

Anyway, they are now at the top of my list and the fact that your suggestion is based on personal experience helps me a lot.

Take care!

You might want to check out russo's dry storage. It is covered and has electricity, and water for charging batteries and cleaning your boat. And you get free launch.

Incase Russo's is full ..... Orwoods are fully enclosed and include free launch as well.

Very nice facility, ramps and only 30-35 minuets from 580/Vasco.

You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

I actually considered indoor storage (w/ electricity) at Orwood a few years ago--they quoted me a whopping $285 per month! Paradise Point was also considered as they offered reasonable pricing but their units didn't have electrical outlets for my charger.

I settled on Valet Indoor RV & Boat Storage because:

1) They're very close to where I had just moved to and are also near the waters that I fish (Delta, Berryessa, the foothills, etc).

2) Clean, secure facility with electricity.

3) Lower fees than most places.

Thanks, but it comes down to price. Launching won't be an issue, because I won't be able to use the boat. I'll be working in Europe.

Take care,

Clark;

Call the people at Paradise Point. They have enclosed storage as noted earlier.

I "think" I remember seeing a storage fee of something like $70 per month, with free launching.

Good luck.

What happens at Russos when you come in after hrs? Will they plug in the boat? Do you leave gear on the boat?

Most, if not all of the spots at Russo's have elctrical. However, there isn't a plug for every boat. When I kept my boat there, I had trouble with other people unplugging my boat to plug theirs in. I had a couple of trips ruined because I got there and my boat was unplugged and the batteries were dead. They will check on your boat and plug it in for you if you call ahead. Their customer service is great and Russo's took care of any problems I had...

I have the perfect location, my garage, free rent, batteries will be charged. Just one thing I ask is for the keys, LOL, I'll make sure she is cleaned after each use, well maintained and most of all ...... well used while you're out of town. We can't let her get dry, I'll keep her wet!

<*(((((><

PS don't hurt to ask. .... just joking.... my boat would get jealous anyhow and there's nothing worse then a cat fight.
