Whats up with the cost of shipping?
All the online tackle stores decided to up the prices for the holidays or what? I went to order a couple packs of mojo weights(total cost 9 dollars. Shipping cost 12.50. )What a joke. I just closed the page and went to the next retailer. 8 dollars for the weights and 9 dollars shipping. I have a business that uses UPS and USPS. It doesnt cost 12.50 to send 3 ounces worth of lead weights out. Nor does the post office charge more than 3 dollars for the same thing. Im not impressed at the penny pinching going on. Charge what it costs you and no more. I dont get it. im going to the tackle store. You end up paying the same but dont have to wait. Its a scam!!!!!!!!! Should i be charging more for shipping? Or am i just normal and not trying to pinch pennies anyway i can? Sorry just venting. This you order 100 dollars or 50 dollars worth of stuff and its free, great i dont have 100 bucks to spend on tackle. So we'll just ream you with a rediculous shipping charge. 12.50 for 3 packs of weights. I cant stop giggling!

Just one more reason to addvicate the support of the Local Brick and Mortor Tackle stores. If your local store wont stock it ask them if they will purchase for you, then go through your online distribution centers. Cost of S/H fees are a way to make an extra buck - but dont forget if UPS is charging 9.00 then the store will charge 12 to cover labor and carton.
Let the Local Tackle Store take care of your needs.... we need to support those that support us!

littlebailey,
nothing is for free these days, even shipping.
most retailers charge a high cost for shipping, because of a few things:
1 - this is a great way to make big dollars on the top end with no added overhead. So, adding on 3,4, or 5 bucks to the actual cost is common. there isnt a retailer out there that gives you the actual costs; they all add on something to the top.
2 - there is labor involved to process an order, so no matter that you order 1 dollar worth of stuff, or 100 dollars worth of stuff, the act of shipping it out to you is the same labor to the retailer. that's the reason it costs 12 bucks to ship 9 dollars of lead out.
i aint saying its right, but its business!
i dont ever waste my time on small items like your buying; i just use the online stores for when i have a big order to place, or want to save the tax costs on big ticket items.
its always better to just go support your local guy!

Re: Whats up with the cost of shipping?
CNBC was reporting at the end of Nov that both Fedex and UPS increased their shipping fees due to the cost of oil. Their overhead was passed onto the consumer.

Re: Whats up with the cost of shipping?
A lot of people use this techniqe to make a nice check off of ebay. Take an item that cost 10 bux in the store, sell it for 7 online with 7 dollar shipping (which actually maybe costed 3-5 dollars) After you do enough items you are making more net then the stores. without having to charge tax and turn your customers away.
Not much I can tell you other then to find 50 dollars worth of stuff you may or may not need

Hey Paul - Order your stuff from Tackle Warehouse. As cLanderman noted, if you order $50 or more (which is VERY easy to do), the shipping is free.

Re: Whats up with the cost of shipping?
Nobody has what i want in stock. I have to go to the manufacturer. Which isnt a problem. Last time i went through them it was 2 dollars for shipping. 6 months later it now 9 dollars. I found em at sport chalet. Ha! 25 pack for 2.99. go to local tackle store, 3.99 for 10. Go figure. I probably just spent ten in gas to go but hey thats life right?
I cant win.

2 words: Tackle Warehouse, free shipping over $50, who spends less than that on tackle, not me!

Paul, call me. If you want something that I don't have tell me to stock it for you. It's no problem I am always looking for new items. All we ask is tell your buddies we have them. Thanks eric

Re: Whats up with the cost of shipping?
The problem is not so much the shipping. Tackle Warehouse has free shipping but we in Cal still have to pay tax, I hate that. If I had an AZ address I could really save.
Re: Whats up with the cost of shipping?
Well legally speaking you are still obligated to pay those taxes yourself, the out of state company just isnt obligated to collect them.
