The first wood hit the ground last week. It will be a beautiful lifestyle mall when finished. RR

Re: BPS Manteca
Where did Escalon Bait and Tackle move to? I drove by there and their old place looked like it was empty and up for lease? I didn't see anything saying that they moved?
Thanks!

I'll agree with you on that......I will continue to support my local shops......Fisherman's, The Hook, etc. But it is kind of a kick to go and browse those stores. I went to the one on the way from Lake Fork to Dallas and it was freakin awesome.
Re: BPS Manteca
In just this year alone we have lost Dave's Bassshack, Extream Angler and Jigs .....
I will always continue to patronise my local shops for everything. BPS and Cabella's will do just fine with-out me. We may make a trip once or twice a year to see something we never have seen that ganers alot of Hoop-lah.
I know I can always get the best customer service repeatedly from The Hook for angling gear, other outdoor supplies and firearms, Canyon Sports, Antioch Armory and Jerry's Archery.
I currently only have the need to order reloading supplies, miscilanious duck hunting gear and hunting clothing on-line. Hogans preaty much filled those voids before we lost them 3 years ago as well.
God save us all if that changes in the near and not so distant future .....

You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

the big lot with the little house is where they put the new strip mall where he is now located.

Re: BPS Manteca
Okay I lied! I was on the phone yesterday to bangladash for 2 hours trying to fix my verizon dsl that got disconnected because I did not renew my contract. Bam! just sent my entire cyber life away. As I drove my honda car to walmart I passed up exxon to get gas because I am still pissed at them but I ended up buying fuel from a company that just polluted our entire bay. I bought some martha stewart stuff I noticed a new OJ doll my kid did not have. I walked rather quickly in my Nike sweat shop shoes to grab a green bag to do my part to save the earth. I could not find a checker who spoke english so I used the new self check out line. As I tried to exit the store an 85 year old man tackled me for my sales slip. Some kid trying to stick a newspaper in my face called me a four letter word. I tried to open my car door that had just been damaged by a unlicensed uninsured motorist that had a nicer car than I do. I tried to call 911 and after 15 minutes listening to the language menu I was disconnected. I finally crawled through my window and drove home with my head out the window as the accident broke out my windshield. My lights were flicking as I drove and the gang bangers ahead of me slammed on the brakes and proceeded to kick my butt for 'flashing" my lights. I again tried to call 911 to get an ambulance to take me to the hospital. 2 hours later I was in line at the emergency room and guess what nobody speaks english and my health insurance was canceled because I was unable to make the payment as my sub prime loan meltdown took all of my money. But do not worry plenty of people are getting rich off of that number.
All I want to do is sit in the BPS in manteca and watch the fish swim around. Is that asking too much? If you have time watch this video TIM WILSON I COULD BE WRONG! youtube.com

Re: BPS Manteca
Hit the new BPS in Phoenix over the Christmas holiday. Personally I was not that impressed. I thought the prices were higher than what I've seen in the local stores around Sacramento.
Amen Rich!!!
I will save you a seat and we can watch them swim circles together! I for one cannot wait till they open-I'll be taking the day off just to be one of the first in line. I have only been to the Las Vegas store but as far as I am concerned it is heaven. I too absolutly love Gene at the Hook,Jeff @ Valley rod and Gun,etc BUT BPS gets their fair share of my $ and I see NOTHING wrong with that.Tight Lines-

Re: Amen Rich!!!
Although i have been a long time supporter of the hook. When he first opened his door as the hook at Big Break.
i have spent a lot on Delivery charges over the years from BPS and Cables too.
When Extreme Angler was original I thought the service and tackle was worth it to, until they changed ownership and with it the service and attitudes went to hell in a hand cart. doesn't surprise me they closed.
With that being said what wrong with shopping were we get the best deals on the tackle we need or buying from various merchant's. When your are buying a car or boat don't you shop the salesmen price???
If Gene has what I want when i need it Ill buy from him and like wise when BPS has it or Walmart, or the guy down the street has it I ll buy from them as well. For the most part the locals get 90 % of my business because they support me in my causes over the years (BBAC) not because they have the lowest price. Its not hard to find something cheaper. But the service that goes along with it goes on for miles.
