How's the fishing at Diamond Valley?

Post by Kbeever »

Haven't been out there in a while and thought I might take advantage of a rainy day and go fishing.

I haven't fished fished the lake in the winter much, so any tips from you Diamond Valley pro's would be appreciated.

I will be fishing the Nathional Bass tournament on the 20th, so don't give away your secret spot....just your friends secret spot :D

Thanks,

Keith

In other words.. This is not the site to get tips and reports. This is just for tourney guys to shoot the sh$t.

But I have been doing pretty good lately on swimbaits in the morning and dragging carolina's on offshore humps, which is no secret for DVL this time of the year.

Good Luck out there!!

Well, since I've been at that lake about none times since the last WON at DV I would start with a #20 treble hook(small bit of power bait) and a 1/8 oz weight near the launch ramp. Get yourself about 5 or so nice trout for dinner. Then go to trout alley and troll about three colors down with a small shad crank bait(needs to be a tight wobble or she'll spin on ya) for some fair action on the holdover rainbow trout and maybe a brown trout if your lucky. Please C&R all these though. That's all the secrets that your gettin' from me today!

Hey Kenneth,

Thanks again for the Sonar tips on the water. And it was pretty cool of you to give some on the water fishing advice. Top notch man!!

Guy,

I don't know Robert that well, but I do know that he's a good guy and doesn't deserve to be teamed up on.

Robert is no different than anyone else who wants to get better and win more money. He's hungry to learn and whether he watches people on the lake or not, it shouldn't matter. All good tournament fishermen are very observant and take notice where their competitors are fishing.

Doesn't matter if someone knows what you are throwing and where you are throwing it. You still have to go out there and do it yourself.

Give Robert a break. He's newer to the sport and only wants to get better and gain respect.

Not that anyone cares, but just my opinion,
Brian

[quote="COCODRILO"]Alright listen up Beev,

1. Call ..

Although Cocodrilo is CooCoo-Nuts  and is more clueless than he is mysterious, Schneider fishing is a good source. I joined him today and we had a little over 22 lbs for our best 5. We did have a lot of guys come check US OUT though, but it was because of all the commotion from all of the fish they saw us catching.

He never got out any binoculars, which if he did it would be to scout out some of his many friends, except for CooCoo-Nuts.

There is not an inch of the lake he does not know, having fished it hundreds of times. I got a great lesson and he showed me many spots he'd won tournaments on.

The coolest part of the day?... 2 swimbait beauties in the first two casts of the year for me!!!   Thanks Tom Leogrande for this sweet setup, worked like a charm again.

Thanks Robert for the epic day. Good luck out there kbeeve, it's a blast right now.

so coco you pulled your post or someone else did.
Look I fished with Robert and he is a stand up guy.
The only guy I know that pulls out the binocs is someone else and you must be friends with him.
Heck were you on the boat that day when Kyle was being watched.

I agree with all what has been said about Robert. Its just sick to see how someone can get a bad rap because of just a few guys..

I have to admit I was caught up in the hype about him a while back, but since I actually tried to talk to him personally and get to know him, he is a stand up guy for sure...

I apologize for the way I worded my question, because it could draw negative feedback, but it was just sick to see how he has such a bad image...

Since I started this stupid question, I will end it. Robert is a cool guy and people should lay off the dude!!

Now for DVL. Trust me, there are a ton of humps that are sitting anywhere from 10 feet to 60 feet that are stacked with fish (Just drag the hell out of them with a Carolina Rig and whatever type of bait you feel comfortable with). Just get a map and look for islands in the water. Also make note of what the current water level is (1711 last I heard from Art) and judge your spots accordingly. There is an easy hump that is between the marina and rawson that is loaded with fish... How about we bring this board back to where it used to be. A place for information.. Not a pissing contest amongst tourney anglers!!

Nuff Said!!

I have never seen Robert do it, but i have seen many other people do it...its annoying as hell. Hang a fish and you have 3 boats coming to investigate what the hell your doing...people are desperate right now, they are sick of donating. You can't blame em, the same people keep taking there money. I had a guy follow me around a few times and try and get all my floaters (worms) just to see what im using..watched a guy troll over and pick it up out of the water. People put in lots of hardwork just to have another boat "shadow" you all day..it's easy to see why this is a touchy issue.

a word of advice...keep a swimbait rod on your deck at all times and protect your water

Well I am not fortunate enough to have the luxury of people following me around until recently.

Another word of advice. Step outside the box at DVL. Get a map (have I stressed this enough) and find some deeper structure. Matter of fact get the new map from the marina and the Fish'N map from a tackle shop and USE them both. Since I did that, i have been consistently catching 3-5lbers instead of my usual 1-2lbers here. Will this hold me over until the next tourney, probably not. But its still fun for me..

Everyone needs to put this into perspective. You are fishing for just a couple grand and making it seem like these tourneys are the Bassmaster Classic. The sport is supposed to be fun.

heck, I would be flattered it someone found one of my worms and tried to use the same color. The funny part is I am colorblind and what I thought was MMII could be Folkestad Special for all I know.

Anyhow, its just a pastime fellas, not a freaking job (Well not for all of us)...

As for Keeping a Swimbait rod one your boat at all times. You should have that anyways at DVL right now and not just for marking your territory!!

i like to use the navionics hot chip...theres no secrets at DVL anymore..a few guys fish it right...the rest hope. Swimbait will get you a kicker, wont get you a limit..at least i cant get a limit on it.

Speaking about the Navionics chip. Does yours have some spots that are not mapped?

I just got one and I am a little pissed that a lot of my good spots are either on land of not mapped on those chips.. WTF!!

it depends on the lake im on...DVL is pretty accurate pending water level. Everything is dead on except from one stretch along a certain dam. It claims there is high spots that arent there.

Like the Navionics chip, but it sure is better on a larger screen. i have the chip in my dash unit and the smaller screen just doesn't do it justice.

wow, I must have a bunk chip, because when I meter on any dam and I am about 20 yard from shore, it says I am on land. And the lake is like 30 feet low, so when its at full pool, I am going to be on the other side of the dam. What a bummer.

A lot of you guys are barking up the wrong tree. I've fished both with and against Robert many times. How many people do you know that you could share information and they don't use it against you - or they share info with you in hopes that you will be more successful on the water. Robert is a gentleman - get off his back.

If you want to see some binocs - check out Crazy Rick's. Those things look like he stole 'em off a Navy ship & you would need a tripod to hold them up.

Ask Rick or Kyle about C-Rigs. They are the masters & they'll tell you exactly what they're doing, what bait & how deep. I still can't duplicate it. They probably are "watched" every time they go out - they are consistently the best at DV but you don't see them here whining. Shoot, I wish I was good enough for anybody to follow me other than the Sheriff boat. (That guy has an attitude)

Wish I could go on this site more often and "learn" more about bass fishing and see less whiney old women comments (no offense to older women) or lame attempts at humor at someone else's expense.

Robert is a good guy. I fished the DVL WON bass night with him last summer. he has had an hot stick lately at DVL.
I can tell you this early Swim bait bite and C-Rig Creature baits.

Go out from boat ramp to middle of lake there are 2 nice humps to fish from there go straight to east ddam there is another sweet hump right off the dam. And first thing hit the long point just before the east dam on the north side with swim baits.
I don't care if I tell people were i catch fish and how BECAUSE I AM NOT A INSECURE PERSON AND BESIDES THAT THEY STILL HAVE TO CATCH THE FISH :D

The fishing has been absolutly fantastic. Water levels have stablized, the water temperature is 4 to 5 degrees warmer than this time last year, and there are so many great spots that are holding fish right now. This is going to be a great spring.

You guys always seem to get stripers; I only caught one all last year...never really fished for them though either. I hooked one on a BBZ in late Sept but didn't land it. Probably around a 10lb fish though... Thats a fun deal...
