Just got back from the ISE
Had a fantastic time looking at everything and talking to all that I met..Even got to meet the world famous Tom Leogrande as well as Gary Dobyns..There were so many know pros walking around, that I felt sure they were have a tourney at the tank..I hung around waiting for the weigh in, never did see anyone weighing in though..Lots of guys getting up and telling all about how they caught them though..By the way, they had about a ton and a half of BassTrixs for sale..Limit was ten packs per customer..I talked to Joe Kopp and he said when the doors first opened the BassTrix display was wall to wall and about four or five deep with people trying to get them..Kap Evans and I got there a little before 4 PM and there were lots left..All colors..Didn't find very many great deals on any kind of gear though..Just getting to meet and talk with some of the guys was worth every dime..

Re: Just got back from the ISE
Did Basstrix occupy their usual spot in the Hi's Tackle Box booth or did they have their own spot? With the tremendous exposure Basstrix suddenly experienced this year, I was wondering if they had to expand their display and get their own booth.mac (Doyle McEwen) wrote:...the BassTrix display was wall to wall and about four or five deep with people trying to get them..Kap Evans and I got there a little before 4 PM and there were lots left..All colors.

They were situated right with Hi's, I would say they took up about 1/3 of the space..They were the first booth inside the door..Kinda hard to miss them..I do not doubt they will sell out of the ones they had on display..By only allowing ten per customer they may have some left..Hopegfully they planned ahead for both shows..

I was there this evening and they had a lot of them left. Looked like all colors still, with full boxes still unopened on the floor.

Mac-
So you caught up to Tom L, huh? Nice. I'm lucky enough to get to work in the Quantum booth with him during the shows. Don't know if I talked to you today or not- too many people to remember- but if you saw a 16 year old working in the Quantum booth, that was me. If you'll be there tomorrow or Sunday, stop by and say hi. I always like meeting fellow nutcases.

Re: Just got back from the ISE
To be honest with you Hi's tackle had 140 baits of each color and size. I know this for a fact becasue Bruce from Basstrix told me that was what there will be available. The shad. rainbow trout and a few others in 6 inch were sold out on Thursday. There were some 6 inch of the not so popular colors left on Friday. I really think now that words out on the baits that there will not be much left in the way of the paddle tails to go to the Sac show. I will report more when I get home from the show tonight. Any guys who really need or want the 5 or 6 inch better get there early today Sat or there will not be much left.

Mac-
I wasn't there on Thursday, so I just missed you.
Cal- I'm pretty sure that the booth Dan was at is all out of the customs, maybe one left. There are 2 or 3 of the regular 9 (8) inch left though. The Swimbait Nation booth still has a few customs left, last I knew.

Re: Just got back from the ISE
I went as well today.
In honor of Dobyns actually catching one of the fish in the tank, I bought one of his rods
a heavy flipping stick, plus a St. Croix swimbait bod, plus a Viento. Grabbed some line, a Spro, and two Staycees. I wanted to find some screw in weights for Swim Senkos, but no dice.
Saw parts of Cooch's talk. Guess I'll have to break down and buy a Lunker Punker soon.
Ogled lots of other booths hunting & fishing related. Thought hard 'bout a Hobie Mirage for small lakes, or one of North Fork Outdoors pontoons. Sat in the Champion 210 Elite and was pleased with myself for not drooling all over it - my 96 is nice but man they have a lot of goodies on the newer ones.
And lastly, I'm going fishing tomorrow

Cal, it was good to meet you too. I sold all the punkers and crackers they had with the exception of 1. I received a call and had to cut the show short and will have to fly to Montana for my future wifes mom is failing and she needs my support to get through this.
Maybe see you at Sac

Re: Just got back from the ISE
damn right Dobyns would have lost him without me and would still be talking about the one that got away. Thanks guys that impromptu swimbait seminar was fun for Gary and I. From the response at the show it was fun for you guys as well. We didn't know where we were going with that one we just kinda threw it all out and held on.
see you guys at the show

Dear Panel,
If a box of Krispy Kremes is on the tank and an angler has a fish on and kb has to land it for fear of losing it does the fish still count?
Thanks for answering my post.

Re: Just got back from the ISE
Thanks guys for the thoughts, I received the call I didnt want to hear today at 2:06 that we lost my future wifes mom. What really sucks is I didnt get to meet her. I didnt go on the trip last summer to visit and I can kick my self for that. I might not make the show at Sac next weekend due to these circumstances. You guys, life is too short when you loose one you love or one close to you, so go give a kiss to your loved ones or a phone call to mom or dad or someone special you havent talked to in a while. It might make you feel better in case something happens to one of them, That will help ease the pain of saying I should have done something.

Condolences to Don. I lost my mom in March of last year. Even when you know it's coming it's a life changing event.

I was sitting on the front row just about even with the spot where the fish jumped. I was sorta wondering if I was gonna have to catch it if jumped over the side of the tank.

Re: Just got back from the ISE
deepest condolences.

Pretty Amazing
Gary Dobyns was giving a swimbait demo at the tank that had about 25 bass from the Delta. He casted into the tank and one of the fish bit the lure and Garry reeled it in.

Re: Pretty Amazing
I was there Thursday and I overheard the owner of the tank mentioning to someone at the start of the day that the biggest one was 10 lbs. I think there were two or three others that looked a bit smaller, probably in the 7-9 lb range and then, of course, another ~15 of varrying smaller weights.
That afternoon Bub Tosh got one of the 5 lb'ers to engulf a swimbait. I think (bad memory) it was a hud. He brought it in low so it banged into the big rock toward the back. As it came around the rock the 5 pounder turned and sucked it up. Classic "reaction strike". Great to actually see it happen. Bub didn't have a hook on the bait, so he just pulled the it back out of the fish's mouth.

You da man slippy.. Thanks. Does anyone know if all the booths and stuff will be open on thursday and friday? I would hate to show up and have them say that it isnt in full swing till the weekend or something. I also want 1st crack at some of those punkers and stuff. I have the trout pattern ones, I dont think it much matters when they are looking up at them, but cooch is swearing by the bass colored ones.
Re: Just got back from the ISE
Cooch has a brown punker he just made today, he says its the best one yet.
