How is the Delta Fishing?

Post by Scoot549 »

How is the fishing on the Delta right now? What types of Baits are working good? Can you expect to catch a limit in a 8hour period? Thanks to anyone with info.

The fishing on the Delta is outstanding right now, but that ain' the report yer gonna git from 90% of the anglers out there who are and always dohave a tough time this time of year. Anyone can "expect" a limit in 8 hours, the odds of that happening fer most, slim and none.

Okay, let me start over, the bites tough, the water is very cold and muddy. Stick to areas with little to no current. Find clear water that has 1-4 feet of visabilty, Stick to the deeper rock walls, especially in the afternoon when it warms up. Toss a big black jig, big plastic swimbait or a big fat crankbait and slow WAY down!

Hey Cooch,

Just for my edification, what is the general temp of the water lately? I know it will vary, but can you throw out an average number?

Thanks,

I found 46 about the average, with 48 the warmest<<<if you could call it that>>> in the far back bays in Disco this past Sunday.

Damn... makes me homesick for CA especially when I was living in Disco Bay. This desert lifestyle just isn't for me... give me some tulle fog and the smell of peat moss in the morning and I'll be a happy camper. Can't wait for the FLW Series on the Delta.

For those of you struggling on the Delta right now it's time to break out the spinning rod, 1/8oz darter head and a grub for dock fishing in Disco Bay w/ 10lb test. Flip and pitch the docks as the big fish are there, you just need that slower fall rate to get their attention.

Think its tough right now. Fished from daylight till 3 and not a bite. My partner did not get bit either.

Summed things up to everyone that asked, by saying

"We sucked hind tit...."

Come to find out, no person in our small club caught a single fish today. Everybody blanked.

I am certain with a little more fishing, I could at least generate a bite, or potentially a keeper fish.

In retrospect, might have been better off going to the ISE.

We had anglers all over the fishing map today, from a 28+ pound winning limit to 8 teams that did not weigh fish. You were either on em or you weren't.

Was very good out there today, if'n ya can believe that. Not fishing a tournament, I was afforded the chance to do a little scoutiing over the pattern I discovered yesterday. There's an excellent, big fish jig bite out there right now!
