Post by scsiman411 »

Who makes a 6/0 or 7/0 ewg, maybe weighted for some of the medium size soft swim baits?

Hey Mikey!

Gamy is out of 6/0 as falcon sold them all agian, there are some coming in the next few months. I use Owner 7/0 and 11/0 with DOA pinch weights to solve the problem any ay. As you know I am not a huge fan of EWG because they all have to be nodified due to the Point and shank being level. No get back here to the river so I can show ya Bro!

Hi Dan,

Exactly what modifcation do you do to those hooks? Bend them out a bit so the hook point is not aimed directly back at the eye?

Thanks,
Greg

swimbait nation has a video of the modification if I remember right, basically a bend to level the hook and a slight bend right or left to put the point offset towards the edge of the bait,

www.shortyhooks.com might have what you're looking for.

As for weighting hooks use some lead wire solder and wrap the solder around your hook. You can add just the right amount to make your bait fall at the rate you want.
