I don't live in Santa Clara but I do live in Santa Cruz county. I'm surprised our boats aren't banned too. It also sucks that San Justo is closed because I fish there a ton.

I've been reading all the threads over there about it. It really sucks for you guys down there. Now your boats are banned at a lot of reservoirs up here. as far as I know there hasn't even been any quagga or zebra mussels found in any lakes down there. It's an ugly situation.

Joe

I was one of the teams that couldn't fish on Saturday. The ranger they had was trying to be calm but he did take some abuse. It was partially my fault also as I missed the two blades of dried up grass and the dry leaf in the dark. We do have the Quagga Muscles but they arein the lakes in San Diego County and three in Riverside. Now DVL's unspection and quarantine are based on an agreed to policy developed by Mike Guisti from the DFG and the MWD. Their quarantine is 24 hours.

If you take your boat into a Santa Clara county lake, are you banned from the EBMUD lakes for good? Do they keep track? What is the procedure for a inspection?

Thanks

i was checked saturday at camanche .pretty simple they checked to make sure everything is dry .then you fill out a questioner. the full explanation is on the EBMUD website. i guess this type of inspection and a little more is probably gonna get us at all bodies of water before to long.there is concern about about lake shasta because of houseboats trucked between there and lake mead.i would say just pull your plug when you leave the lake and drain your live wells.no sense gettin excited with the inspectors they are just doing what they are told, but allow yourself a little extra time to launch especially if your in a tournament. Does this affect you if you have been on one of Santa Clara County lake's recently?

Alot of lake's are under this "mussel watch"yet the only lake I know of that has been closed is San Justo. Please correct me if I am wrong. How did they get there?

The closest decent lake to my house, about a half hour drive,is CLOSED TO ALL BOATING.

Suck's big time.Guess I'll have to stay off Anderson to.

I just can't imagine that the zebra mussels are ONLY in San Justo. How they got there is a damn good question.

Why would you have to stay off Anderson though?

I live by San Justo and from what Ive heard based on the population found, the zebra mussels have been in there for 2 or 3 years, I have fished San Justo probably a hundred times in the last 2 or 3 years, and if there is any risk at all of spreading these things via the water in your motor, bilge, livewells, and pads on my trailor. I personally have allready spread these things to half of california, I cant tell you how many times Ive fished Justo on friday and Camanchi on saturday. Its not like the mussels got there over night. I think that the mussels will be everywhere in the state and probably all of the states around us before we know it. I think that keeping us off certain lakes is just to little to late.

This is the question that I have. If I put the boat into Anderson will I be black listed from the EBMUD lakes?

I can't really answer your question specifically, but can tell you this; if your honest when filling out the questionaire then you most likely will not be allowed to launch at an ebmud lake that is inspecting boats. They are recording info on the boat and driver, what, if anything they are doing with that info I don't know.

Is there anything that you can spray the boat down with that will kill the mussels and not destroy the boat? Something like simple green?? I fully pressure wash my boat and dry it down after use and I have read that "Catch and Release" will kill them in a live well but what about the rest of the boat?

Take a look at what is going on in the snout. The dfg biologist did a factual presentation and the Lake Casitas chose to heed the advice of some joker who is the Conservation Chairman on a fly fishing club. What is going on down south is probably what your edmud board is doing also
