I was going to see how the responses were to decide where to launch from, but I don't see why we can't launch from the Hwy 162 ramp on the south side of the bridge unless the water is low then we will launch from the Wilbur road ramp. There will be no limit on boats. It is the 1st day of daylight savings, shotgun launch (depending on # of boats) will be at safe light between 7:00-7:15am (I hope that is right, sunrise is at 7:31am) check in: I will be there at 5:00am for sign ups

Bill,

If I had an economy car and didn't already have other plans, I would grab a couple of sticks, drive on up and take you up on it!

I was just sending you a pm Bill. I never fished the fore bay and heard it can be a kick.

Then reality stepped in. I remembered it's my mother in laws birthday party.

It's always something  .

Good luck out there.

Where is the afterbay?

Is the afterbay part of the main lake?

No it's below the lake between Oroville and Gridley. It dumps in the Feather River below the low flow area.

That sounds weird, so the Feather River becomes the Feather River?

I've caught many large fish to 10lbs out of the afterbay... Problem is a lot of the local yahoos keep everything they can.
If I get my lower unit back by Friday, I'll be up there to give it a shot...

The ones at the outlet are all connected together with cables and keep out signs. I don't know about the other areas.

Not from experience but common sense, Don't get caught in there.
I imagine the fines would be hefty. :(

I know from experience that all they do is ask you to get out, I was just wanting to know if it was going to be off limits for the shootout  This is your turkey shoot/your rules no problem either way. I could just see people fishing the outside edge and I go rolling in to the bouy area and those others having a fit about it. Plain and simple is always best if you can..... :!:

I may have misinterpreted your post. The bouyed areas will be off limits for Sunday but you may stay at the bouys and cast into the area but no boats inside the bouys. Joe

Mine isn't up to par right now, I have lost about 12 lbs of compression on the # 4 cylinder, besides I don't have anything for a 492 with 335 ponies under the cover, I can't wait to see it though. Look forward to meeting you, Jason

It sucks to hear that about your motor. If you need it worked on, Eric Simon is the man on 3.0L Merc's. You don't have to make it a 335 either... :D

Ok guys it looks as if there going to be a few boats at the Shootout.
Format will go like this: 8)
Check in 5:00-7:00am Monument Hill Ramp
20.00 per boat 2 people per boat
Blast off at safe light.. 7:00- 7:15 am
Weigh in at 2:30 pm
12" minimum length any way it will go on a will-e-go board
5 fish limit per boat
-1/2 lb per dead fish
Release fish outside of the 5 MPH bouys
If you guys can bring your own weigh bags that would help.
#1 Rule is to have FUN !!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine is the 2.5, I can't afford to have someone else do it so I learn as I go. Fast is great but man does it suck on fuel mileage and motor wear...I couldn't imagine having a 335 hp motor, that would be awesome.....look forward to meetin you and seeing the motor I can only dream of :D :D

How about a BIG FISH Option. A lure (ie: crankbait, spinnerbait, swimbait or bag of worms) to the pot for big fish? Winner take all, just a thought Joe

Be careful with your 12" size limit........I believe

Post by The Lone Angler »

Bass must be 12" mouth closed to be kept. That is why most tournaments make the minimum size limit 13" mouth open so if you get checked by the warden, you are OK as 13" mouth open fish will go 12" mouth shut...........food for thought anyway.

Thank you Lone Angler, we will still go with the 12" min. but just so everyone knows, ....if a warden checks you out, its all on you.
the reason we say "any way it will go on a will-e-go board" is to let some of you from Gridley, at-least be able to weigh in some fish. :)

We are having this Shoot-out to have fun. but like with all things you do that involve people.... people complain and have some problem with the way you do it. That is to be expected
Joe and I will do our best to make this thing go as smooth as possible but it will require everyone to do that.
I bet 99% of the people going to show up have fished tourneys, so you know the rules. PLEASE be on good behavior.
thanks Brian

Monument Hill is the ramp on the south side of 162. Head up 99 to 162 East to Oroville. Go over the bridge and then about 1/4 mile turn right into the Monument Hill launch area. See ya there. Joe
