Ok, so it's been a while since I've posted on this board, sorry guys. I'm living in Utah right now, and I'm going with serious CA big bass withdrawls lately. I wish I could move back there, but it's just so daggum expensive. However, I have convinced my wife to move to Texas in July. From there, I will finally be able to get back into the tournament scene. Tournaments here in Utah suck...anything more than 10 boats is a big tournament here. haha.

Anyways, here's the real purpose for my post. I'm lookin' at trying to bust a 10lber in Utah this year before I move to Texas. How am I going to do it? Swimbait of course. I live right by Utah Lake. Most of you probably aren't very familiar with it, but it is the 2nd largest natural freshwater lake this side of the Mississippi from what I understand. Basically it's an oversized duck pond. It's huge and shallow. Often times people talk about how you can practically walk across the whole thing without your head going under. It's a straight mud bottom all the way across and the deepest spot in the lake is only like 12ft deep, but the average depth is about 4-6ft. Anyways, because of this, it's a very muddy lake...visibility on average is about 2" through most of the year. However, for the first couple months after ice off (coming very shortly) you may have about 1-2ft visibility. I want some suggestions for swimbaits that'll work good in the muddy water. This lake is also loaded with small White Bass, so I know that the big largies eat those guys up quite a bit. Other than that, other available forage includes (from largest population to smallest): baby carp, bluegill, green sunfish, crappie, perch, and trout. Believe me, the trout population is slim to none. It is not stocked. The only trout that make it into the lake come in through one of the rivers or streams that dump into the lake and are just little guys between 9-14" and then they can't survive the summer. So what swimbaits would you guys suggest?

3:16 mission fish in white or what ever color will match the food, if you want the DD better go with the 7 inch or bigger. The lake you are talking about shallow so you will have lots of stuff on the bottom to hand you up and the 3:16 you can drag through just about anything with out getting hung up.

with 2" of visability you need something that will move water. Wake bait or Punker. The bigger the better.

8" tripple trout slow sink if the water is dirty. If it is that stained you may want to go with one of his white ones or golden. Fish it like a jerk bait only slower.

7" chartruse shad mission fish Clunk and bump into everything.
white wake jr or ms slammer slow and steady.
rof 5 8" hudd. probably your best shot at a 10.
