Changing Times

Post by DDawg »

Popped in for the first time in a long time.
Good to see some old familiar faces still in the crowd............ of course we could all do without seeing Cooch's mug, but we still love the guy none the less!

I found one of the old green NCBF hats when I was moving last year......... bet Hardshell would pay a mint for it?

Was just telling my girlfriend how this place has evolved from the old NCBF days.
1 Sponsor at the top of the page.
1 forum with 30 posts on a jumpin day back then.
Maybe as many people that checked constantly.
Names that are faded away, but still left an impression.
Names like Micster, Toad, Phlip, RDawg, Brat, SSC, Stickbait, ............ the list goes on, but given time to think I could probably still name most of the regulars back then
(No Dom........ you weren't there Har!).

Anyways, just wanted to pop in, say hey, & rattle some cages.

Dave

You never know, though it's been since I said I was walking away, since I fished for bass.
Work keeps me busy to the point that I know I don't have the time to jump back into it............ then there's something else that keeps me busy when I'm not at work.

Hey Dave,
At 18 months I was taking my first Girl fishing, she is 6 years old now, I started taking my twins fishing at 2 years but only one at a time:), last year I took both twins with me for the first time, they are almost 4 years old now, we had a blast at Clear Lake, the cool think about Clear Lake is there is a playground at Austin Park (south end) and a playground up north (just above state park) I take the kids out fishing for about 2-3 hrs and than go to the playground for an hr and than back to fishing for 2-3 hrs, in the summer I mix it up with swimming, now here is where it gets real fun in the summer, after they fall asleep in the summer on my Ranger I cover them up nice and warm and go hog hunting but only if the weather permits and most of the summer nights at Clear Lake are awesome calm and flat!!!! My kids do not get with in 100 yards of water with out their life jackets on. Being a Dad is awesome!!! Take them fishin!!!

Mr. Doubledee, what a surprise to open the forum this morning and find a post from the D-Dawg..Even though I was not one of the oldsters on the forum, I still know most of those you named and most for whatever reason don't post as often as they once did..Stickbait, or is that Sharkbait comes back every once in awhile..
Great to see you post, and what the heck are you doing with a good looking girl like that..you must be doing something right..Take care and stop in more often..

Take a kid fishing, and don't forget about us older kids either..

Hey DDAWG:

Good to see that you are still around after all this time and water under the bridge.

Don't know if you rember, but you gave my son Matthew his handle in 1998, TDAWG. Remember the Dawg pound!? He still post from time to time and is active in fishing and work.

Very good to hear from you and what a gorgeous daughter.

See ya

Hey Mr. DDawg! Good to hear from you!

I am not really "old school" but I recognize the handles you are talking about.

Some of the old versions of the ncbf website are archived at the Internet Archive. You can view versions of this website going back as far as January 1999...

Only thing about the webarchive is it won't show the forum posts.......it will only show how the shell looked......it would be cool to be able to go back to then and see what was posted....

Good to hear you doing fine there DDawg.
Talking to Jdawg today and said to tell you hello.
That would be part of the DAWG pound for some of you younger ones.
Stop in and say hi every now and then.
The site has changed sometimes for the better, but it can get pretty ugly in here some times.

Well, well, a hat for sale, huh? I prolly have at least 10 of those squirreled away for a rainy day! Those NCBF hats will never leave my sight, on the other hand I have about 200 Ranger Hats that I won't wear again anytime soon! Good to see you're still hangin' in there, Dave. Seaters says he gone back to Dan Gamble so maybe it won't be long till the ol' gang is back in business.

Good to see you all.

Jack, I may take you up on that soon.

Smitty, I haven't tied a jig in 4 years......... matter of fact, the tweekers broke into my garage when I was moving, & stole all of my molds(among other things)!

Hey Dave,

Glad to hear you are doing well. Lets get Stony to hit us
up with some Orwood Bloody Marys some morning soon. ;)
Man seeing those old forum shells really brought back some
memories and old friends. Seeing Cal put a smile on my face.

Greene How is the leg? Hope you are able to put a boot to Butch
Jr's behind if needed. (grin)

Cute kid Dave....do you know who the father is? LOL!

Congratulations, she's a doll. I can see why you are keeping your focus on work with a little one to care for. There will be plenty of time for fishing in the future.
