?? on GPS#'s

Post by macinckirk »

Hi all

I have a ?? about how can you take a set of GPS#'s from Google Earth and put them in your Lowrance unit and use them

If I get a set of #'s From Google that look like this

N 33* 1'51.34"
W 114* 30'59.72"

and when I pull #'S of my Lowrance unit they look like this

N 34*16.979'
W 117*19.936'

What do I need to do to get the Google #'s to work in the Lowrance

Thanks for any Help

That is because of two different measuring systems, minutes/degree/seconds and decimal fraction.

There are a number of different formats that Lowrance can use. You just have to specify when you are entering. It is one of the drop down menus on the same page as where you enter the coordinates.

Thanks I got it, I just change it in the Menu on the lowrance, I'll add some spots I would like to check out down on Martinez and then I guess if I want I could allways go back in and change it back to just min/degree

Do you all know if I just leave it the way it is for google will it mess up all the other waypoint that I have allready??? In my mind I would think they should be ok just checking

Thanks again

Kirk,

I have my GPS set to match the datum format that Google Earth uses and it has had no effect on my other GPS waypoints.
