Hey Guys-
I hit up DVL today and just wanted to give you guys a warning that you need to make sure your boats are clean and dry. I personally saw 6 boats get turned away and 4 of the boats turned away cursed out the employee doing the check, which was unfortunate. If you are unsure just make sure by bringing towels and drying everything off including livewells before trying to enter the lake. It wasn't a crazy inspection by any means and was very reasonable especially in comparison to the horror story's from Casitas. Just don't have standing water in the livewells and you should be fine unless you are a complete disaster in terms of cleanliness.
Also the entire west dam side of the lake was closed today so the fishing was limited to the east end and on that end the water was off color. Based on a few posts on here it sounds like the lake will be 100% open, but for today I can tell you that the East half of the lake was the only accessible half today. Good luck out there!

Re: DVL Clean and Dry Warning and Update
You probably only think it's extreme because like me you feel that nature will find a way to introduce the quaggas to all of our lakes via waterways, animals or fish regardless of precautions taken on boats. The boat inspections were pretty chill and in some cases of the people I saw turned down they had nearly 4" of standing water in their livewells.Bigone wrote:Thanks for the heads up. Today was a bit on the brutal side between having to wait close to an hour to be able to go through the gate because of the chaos at the West dam and then the new inspections.

EXTREME!?!?!?!
Make sure your boat is not a dirty pig and you will get in... simple as that.. Im glad they are doing it.. less boats on the water. The same people that dont clean their boats are probably the same people that throw wrappers from their food in the lake. Whiners....comply and you can fish..
anybody need some cheese?

Re: DVL Clean and Dry Warning and Update
No problem with the common sense practices what so ever . Clean/Dry...actually thats really nothing new to me . I guess kind of anal on that kind of stuff ,Heck..I bought a gas power washer one boat ago to use at home just to blast off the bottom and the trailer before I waxed it..yea..I know
why wax the bottom,lol..just gives me an excuse to look for chips..etc..

Re: DVL Clean and Dry Warning and Update
Its an easy inspection. Like John said just make sure ur boat isnt a mess and they will let you in. Dont b a d**k if you dont get in. Its your own fault! Its not that bad. Its for the best!!! Nate

Ok... so a guy gets turned away for dew in a well! Thats just about as sensible as it gets. The element of consciousness and common sense is something these people seem to be lacking which is why in my opinion, its extreme.
'Clean and Dry' seemed to have worked absolutely flawlessly when it came to Casitas, right guys? My point is that its more than just having an immaculate boat, they just seem to be finding excuses to shut the ponds down now.
I have a buddy who worked on his boat 2 hours the night before, working water out with a shop vac, wiping everything down from end to end on his rig and he gets quarantined for signs of a waterline (Casitas). Its BS and extreme! Comply at Casitas and what happened?
Note to the geniuses running this whole thing- Bass boats are not the ones transporting them!
I think they should start to re-focus their efforts on wiping out the waterfowl population instead (As MP noted they've been proven to transport the larvae) Not that it matters anyway since the culprits are more than likely in the lake already.
Ridiculous.
