Did anyone else who watched the live FLW feed yesterday think it was funny when Dee Thomas dropped that fish on stage and took 45 seconds bend over and pick it up? His co-angler even had to help him!

whoa...you're takin a chance with a loaded question like that one. Dee is purty popular in these parts. I'm not touching that one.

However, I will tell a pretty funny story about myself.
I was the weighmaster for one of the FBL events and a couple anglers brought their bag to the scales. It was a pretty warm day and I had worked up quite a sweat as I believe we had like 40 teams that day and I was working feverishly to weigh them quickly.
I had on gloves that helped protect my hands, but after about 100 fish, they became pretty slick.

As I picked up this one 3-lber, I turned to transfer it from the holding tank to the scale and it slipped outta my hand and SHOT like a rocket. It cleared the scale by a good 3 ft, hit the folding table, richochet, and PICKED UP SPEED. Somehow it ended up under Scott Shambre's suburban (which was holding up the tent).

I had to get down on my hands and knees and s-t-r-e-t-c-h to reach it.

I thought Scott and the crew were going to bust a gut laughing. After picturing what the whole thing must of looked like, even I had to laugh.

Slippery little suckers...

Hey its all in fun, I'm 23 but I know all about Dee's legendary status and how he's a pioneer in our sport and I respect him just as much as the next guy. But it made me laugh. I jus hope he has a sense of humor. Hell I aint no little dude either.

I have to tell you...not only are you being mean, but very disrespectful. Young guys want to make fun of older folks.

Let me tell you, I know Dee personally and fished with him in an event. The man can barely walk. I hope I have the skills and ability at his age.

Sounded funny to me but I would laugh at myself if it was me.

Someone posted a youtube video of me falling out of my truck while hooking up my boat awhile back. I laughed so hard I almost pissed myself. I guess it depends on your sense of humor.

P.S. Greg I remember when that happend to you. You dropped one of my fish too. LOL

Hey, I'm a very drama-free guy so before guys start talking down to me about what Dee has done for bass fishing and makin me upset, why don't you read a few posts up. I thought I made it clear that I know about Dee and it was just a joke, I aint trying to offend him or anyone else. I'm young but I aint stupid, I know my bass history and I will never seriously make fun of any man like Dee.

Dee is human just like the rest of us, he does something funny, and I'll laugh, if I do something funny I expect to get laughed at!

That is one of the benifits of being in the Golden age group, just wait til you reach it and you will see and understand. At least he is still out fishing and getting around, which is a whole lot better than a lot of people less his age. You will understand, in time, my friend when and if you reach that age. I am now 70 years and after back surgery, disk removal and a bad knee, I can tell you I am slowing down and do not bead, nor bounce back like I did when I was forty.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but in my younger days I don't know how many times I heard "look at him, ain't even dry behind the ears and still shi!#@Ng yellow. Come back when you're grown!" I am now somewhere between that and my golden years now and I'll say this. All you old farts, (Dee included) that dished it out so well back then need to be able to take it now. I didn't see anything wrong with what he said and I'm way over twice his age.

Just goes to show you, you don't have to be able to bend down and pick up your fish if you have a good net man..But you gotta be able to catch them in order to drop them..That is why I don't drop very many..

Too get them sponsor's, I"d recommend you take a class in communication and learn the meaning of "Sir".

I've known Dee for thirty-Seven yrs and see him atleast 2 times a week and we still have the same respect towards each other. I could go on, but I won't and Mike and a couple others know pretty much way.

I know for sure that in this very thread that there is a pro staff co-ordinator for at least 2 of those companies! And I really don't think he meant any disrespect. If so I wouldn't have posted what I did. I've met Dee a time or 2 in years past and he was pretty good at dishing it out himself, and not always so gentle either!

Hey fivetenthz,
Here's something to consider:

You fronting those labels under your name as if they ARE your sponsors is mis-representing you and them; and is surely negative towards you someday obtaining sponsors on your own. No one wants to sponsor somebody who otherwise mis-represents themselves to everyone else.

Also, seeing Dee (or anyone) drop a fish is funny. However, the rest of it isn't funny. you should've stopped there.

This again is another example of why those "Future" sponsors may not appreciate you representing them on this website.

Stop and think about it.

And let's hope you don't get close enough to Dee so that he can grab hold of your shirt. Knowing Dee, he'll likely want to show you just how "old" his boot is.

This is ridiculous. This thing got blown way outta proportion. Its all a joke. The thing about Dee and the thing about "future sponsors". Once again, I aint an ignorant young punk talkin trash about a legend. I know all about Dee, his age, his health concerns and whats he's done for our sport and I respect him just as much as everyone else. No way would I seriously disrespect him. I might not catch a 33-01 limit in my life. And as far as sponsors go, I'm just a recreational and club angler, I might do a couple 100% and AC tournys in the future if I'm lucky, but thats it. These are just companies that I love and appreciate that have helped me become a better angler and I feel the least I can do is put them under my name and give them some "free advertising" if you will, to show my appreciation. This is my last rebuttal guys, please lighten up.

I don't understand how anyone could possibly take pleasure in seeing a man like Dee struggle with his age or health. This man has contributed so much to the sport of bass fishing...he's part of the reason young guys even GET to enjoy this sport today! That man deserves respect.
