I can't let this go...(Rally Smack)

Post by BassTraveler »

Angel (He left the PLUG out) Valdez, left his plug out yesterday morning. With water being pumped out at an alarming rate...His partner quickly stole a golfcart and ran into the north forty for a quick trailer pickup.
Once the boat was trailered...the plug was placed securely in the hole (Thank God...he got that right).
The rig was quickly parked and even though they were number 7 out, they still managed to go out after boat 11.
If it wasn't for the heroic action of Angel's partner...the boat may have sunk in front of Russo's.
Angel felt he had to make it up to his partner today.
Angel came through and caught a 6.8 pound Toad.
Even though it helped move them up the leader board...his partner felt it was not enough to forgive the enormous mistake from the day before.
Angel has been practicing hard for this NumbNut Award...there are many of you who can still take and run away with it. Har!      8)

I feel a local in the NumbNut mix.....

Post by Gator »

This was a good pre-cursor, but he has gotten his "numbness" out of the way. Now it is clear sailing for Angel. Now, the Clear Lake local who insist's on talkin da smack, that's a different story......

You also have to remember, we have our good friend HubSpinner coming up for the festivities, so I Figure he is in the running already!!

Last week to talk it, let the SMACK TALK re-emerge!!

I have to add....

Post by WON Teams »

Having first hand knowledge of this event I need to add a key point.

First, I questioned Angel on the whereabouts of his missing partner in the final moments prior to start. He replies that his loyal partner is "taking care of business" or something to that effect.

So I think more credit may be due to Sieg than he is claiming. Had nature not called, Angel (and Sieg) may have well started on their way to the first stop of the day sans plug. Thus causing them to have to make a prompt return to the ramp and cost precious fishing time.

So is Sieg a hero? Your decision......

And Sieg one more thing....wasn't it a RANGER? It can't sink. Oh and Angel, I was going to let the "PLUGGATE" scandle die,but Sieg started it.

Either way, thanks for coming guys!

I have to............

Post by Angel »

commend Sieg on quick thinking on retrieving the truck so I could correct my bone head mistake. But Sieg, you admitted to stealing a golft cart......is that not grand theft. Maybe an arrest may be forthcoming, maybe during the rally!!! A lot of you know that my family and I will be staying the Taylors for the rally. I am open to any suggestions as to how we can pin the numbnut award on him. Email me with your idea's. This is war! :D Like Gator said, I have got the numbness out of my system.....you on the other hand is a different story. As I recall you tried to pin the Numbnut award on others and it back fired and you ended up with it. Can history repeat itself or will Cooch come out of nowhere to claim yet another Numbnut award. Only time will tell........ :D  See you all there this weekend.

So here's where I got lost...

Post by sTony »

why didn't you brave anglers just lay down on the back of the boat and feel around a little bit and put the plug back in the boat while it was still on the water? Last time I er... forgot to put the plug in it was a quick fix right there at the ramp and we were off and fishing. There wasn't a need to allow all that time to get the trailer to let even more water seep into the boat. Sounds like you both deserve a numb nut award to me. And by the way, it was a Ranger. I went out on a little excursion one day with Cal Tatum and another friend and we didn't rezlize until mid afternoon that I didn't have the plug in. Boat got up on plane as normal every time and until I hit a wake and the water popped up from the center drain we didn't even know that the plug wasn't in. You just can't sink a Ranger no matter how hard you try.

Angel, staying at Club Taylor gives you plenty of opportunity to mess with the guys brain and boat and equipment to give him a leading edge on this year's numbnut. Course if Dewayne doesn't get the trophies done in time he'll have the award won hands down.

From what I understand, the rally director is awarded immunity from getting the NumbNut award so there won't be a back to back winner, hahaha.

There is no rule (written or otherwise) that precludes our esteemed Rally director (or his faithful assistant) from receciving ANY Rally award, NumbNut included. So we may just have a back to back winner, we'll have to see how the weekend goes!!

Can you give a demonstation on my Ranger of how to put in a gorgotten plug while on the water? I think Angler and I would find that helpful and since you have experience you would be the expert.

PS - I will hold you feet if you like!

To watch Dewayne hold Tony's feet while he reinstalled the plug...I think we should auction off the chance to hold his feet!!!!!!

Hey Dewayne.........

Post by Angel »

I just realized, Sieg may be good candidate for this to show us how to put a plug back in. He was complaining that I have a net that is good for minnows. Well he demonstrated on my 6.8 pounder yesterday how far he could stretch out, he was so "far out", all he had was his toes in tha boat and nobody was holding his feet. This could be very entertainig. How bout it Sieg...can you teach us???? 8) :D

Also, Just in......barrel of monkeys order banana's. Head monkey is know to wear checkered Vans tennis shoes.

Are those darned plugs that far under the boat now? In my old boat it was just a matter of not minding a wet shoulder and arm.

Which model Ranger do you have Tony??

Post by jeff bradshaw »

You could reach the plug in the older 300 series but when they added the 15" setback you couldn't reach the plug anymore. My 94' 488 I had and my 520 have the plug so far under you have to actually swim under the boat to get the plug in else put it back on the trailer.

That's the answer then. I' had an older 362 and obviously now things are different. So, once again, no one will be grabbing my ankles at the rally for any demonstration but I will be looking for the first goof ball that forgets to put his plug and lord knows, it won't be me. haha.

The plug on the ranger's with the set back.I went night fishing once and by the time i realized i left the plug out it was to far back to the ramp so i figured i would lean over and thread it back in.well i did not fall but should have.So i got the bright idea and found a secluded spot and had to get down to my bare skin and beached my boat and waded out up to my neak basicly and put it in.Now if a ranger was to come by how was i going to explain this one!!!!!!!!
