Rigging for Black Dog Weed Slinger
I just purchased a few of these baits. I have never used them before. Can someone please tell me the correct/best way to rig them? I know the heads of these baits are weighted, but which hook set up works best. Weighted EWG versus treble hooks (like the trick that works for the Basstrix), or is there another way that works better? Any help or suggestions are much appreciated. I would hate to get on the water and not have the right type of hook to make this bait perform properly.

CGilley,
Best hook to use (Weightless) is a Gamakasu 6 odd (Wide). You can get them at the Hook. You can also use a 7 odd, but there's a trick in inserting them into the Weed slinger. Too insert a hook larger than a 7odd, measure the hook out with the bait in question and then insert the point of the hook FIRST then tie.
It's possible you just have to play with it and think outside of the box. Throw the WS on a MH SB Rod.

I agree the best way is to rig with A 5/0 or 6/0 EWG superline hook. Do not try to rig with a treble hook. The whole point of this bait is to be weedless, the treble rig is not a weedless rig. It works great on a basstricks but this bait is designed to be used in a heavy cover situation. Also thro it on braid!!!!!!!
