black dog baits

Post by mm »

Does anyone know how to get ahold of these guys?
My 13 yr. old son saved up to buy a shellcracker only to have the tail snap off on the THIRD cast.
I have been trying to call the# on their web site but the message I get is mailbox full.

Same thing happened to me last Thursday on Sam Rayburn, only it was about my 5th cast.
Do they make a more flexible tail, like on other swimbaits?

the original tails were made from Acrylic, the ones i made are either plexiglass or g-10 (almost unbreakable).

I like the g-10 tails they have good action.

Good choice with the G-10. Acrylic would be way too brittle.

I just picked up a 'cracker and Go To Minnow and they both appear to have a tail made of a G-10 type material.

Can I get in on that deal too? Also, I didn't look too close, but does the pin for the tail piece go all the way through the tail? What is the best way to remove that pin?

Thanks

That's great customer service !

I look forward to trying these Black Dog Baits this year hopefully.
Being located on the east coast in NY, we do not have the awesome tackle shops to peruse stuff like are found in California.

Peter you absolutely can get in on the tail deal. We had our factory screw up a small batch of tails. For me this is totally unacceptable and will take care any customer with any problem bar none. Email me your info and ill get a new tail out to ya. The pin goes almost all the way through but not quite. When you switch it out use a small dab of super glue to prevent water intrusion where the pin enters and exits.

Just a note, I take a treble hook and tie on chicken feathers. Knock out the pins and put the hook in to replace it. Works for me. I do this to all my baits that have hard tails, more action, more hooks. I have one of those go-to minnows that doesnt swim right. It side strokes. I just can bring myself to send it back because it flat out sticks fish even running sideways.
