Is Homeland security a bunch of crap?
St. Paul / Man defecates in downtown state Homeland Security offices

Article Last Updated: 03/17/2008 11:32:31 PM CDT
A man got into the Minnesota Homeland Security and Emergency Management office in downtown St. Paul last week and defecated in several rooms, police said Monday.
The incident happened about 1:30 p.m. Friday in a basement office area of 444 Cedar St., according to a police report. The man went in through an emergency exit door that hadn't been secured properly, said Tom Walsh, St. Paul police spokesman.
A contractor working for building management walked out and didn't properly secure the door behind him, said Susan Lasley, Minnesota Department of Public Safety spokeswoman.
Based on a description of the suspect, Walsh said he appeared to be homeless.
The man had left on foot before an officer arrived, the police report said.
— Mara H. Gottfried
How many reasons is this wrong?
1) an unlocked door at the Homeland SECURITY office
2) the event occurs at 1:30 pm on a business day
3) In a different story the Police said the camera footage was such poor quality it would be impossible to identify the guy

Greg,
People like Mara H. Gottfried are searching and pointing out "gotchas" any chance they get, how about asking them what they have done for America lately!
Lets put this in a little better perspective.
Homeland Security was adopted by our government to protect U.S. citizens from future terror attacks on our home soil and abroad.
To more rational minds, the Minnesota Homeland Security Management office in downtown St. Paul would not be considered a high level target to most terrorists, doesn’t it make more sense to spend our tax money protecting America’s more viable interests.
Armchair quarterbacking is usually done by people that cannot play in the game, they are also the same individuals who would have screamed bloody murder had the state of Minnesota spent millions of dollars to secure that very building..
For the most part, I believe that the majority of Americans sleep a little better at night knowing our government and military is hard at work and laying their life on the line for the very liberty you and I are enjoying as we speak.

Re: Is Homeland security a bunch of crap?
The entire HSA is a joke, created by those (wolfowitz, rumsfeld&cheney) to instill fear into Americans as a means to control the masses. It is run just like the rest of the Gov. by carreer politico's and gsa employees who are more concerned about their paychecks than mine or your security.
Armchair quarterbacking-ha ha ha, how about just being a concerned citizen and excercising your right to an opinion and free speach.
We have lost more freedom in the last 8 years, in the holy name of "security" than I can personally gag. I say it's all a crock of sh!% and more smoke and mirrors.
Now I realize this is just my opinion, and for now we are still allowed by our government to have one. I have just one question for you. When the Fed government decides that armed citizens pose a risk to Homeland Security and any and all firearms owned by citizens must be turned over, will you turn yours in? After all it's for your own safety.

I have not felt one ounce of fear from the day the HSA was introduced, what fears do you have?
Armchair quarterbacking-ha ha ha, how about just being a concerned citizen and excercising your right to an opinion and free speach. People without comprehensive knowledge of the events and no clear solutions that broadcast their criticisms to the public do not show concern to me , but they do have that right.

I'm still trying to figure this one out, I cannot find a single "freedom" I have lost. I imagine I would find it much harder than before to plan a terror attack on the United States, but then again I have never contemplated that in the first place, so I guess that could be considered one "freedom" I may have gave up

I have been a proud conservative for many years and have given thousands of dollars in my adult life to a political party that fights to ensure that very right of mine.

Re: Is Homeland security a bunch of crap?
This quote best defines how I feel;
"They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security"
Benjamin Franklin
Your freedom may be completely intact,
If you haven't left the country and returned, if you don't have email or the internet, if you don't have a bank account, if you don't use a cell or land based phone, then your absolutely right, you've probably lost no freedom of privacy, restriction in travel, ability to not have your banking records scrutinized by the government for the sake of security.
Do I lose sleep or fear this stuff, heck no, I get up and go to work just like you do. Does it bother me as a law abiding citizen that my government can access my records absolutely, it should any American.
This was good,
you can give your freedom away, I'll keep mine for now.

your joking right? Who would have comprehensive knowledge, your certainly not going to find that out from our government, remember WMD <<<<how comprehensive was that. This country was founded on it's citizens questioning governments authority over indiviuals rights.People without comprehensive knowledge of the events and no clear solutions that broadcast their criticisms to the public do not show concern to me , but they do have that right.

I'll tell ya what Dan and Coral,
I will list all the rights and liberties I have lost because of Liberals and their agenda, in turn, you list those you have lost as a result of Homeland Security.
We will then compare our lists and let the cards lay where they fall.

1st you keep catagorizing in terms of "liberals and conservatives" in my feable mind all politicians are the same, they're shapeshifters, they are whatever the moments prescribes them to be. I have zero faith in any of them.
2nd, your not going to change your mind anymore than I will. So essentially this will be nothing more than the preverbial fissing match.
3rd I hear your one hell of a fisherman, I hope we get a chance to talk fishing sometime.
