Prop!!
Prop!!
I have a 18ft Bayliner Bass Boat With a 150 Pro v Yamaha and the other day my pro came off in the lake so i need to get one but dont know what pitch it was What do you guy recomend i get everyone teels me i should be about 60mph but was only getting 50 out of the other one.
Re: Prop!!
You might want to call Phil's Props for a recommendation, or perhaps Gator could go out and look at his - he has the same motor but it's pushing a Ranger but it shouldn't be too far off. You can take a look at this site:

If you have some of the info it might help you out. Just remember that a higher pitch number will give you higher speed but poor hole-shot, and a lower pitch number will give you a better hole-shot but lower overall speed. A "Tweener" should give you good all-around performance.

Re: Prop!!
Hey Gator what pitch do u have? About how fast does yours go? Is SS or Aluminum better?
Re: Prop!!
SS or Alum - - -
SS will not flex as much so it will give you maybe a little more "oomph" if you will. It is much stronger and stiffer than aluminum. It is also repairable.
Aluminum on the other hand is by far less expensive and it can be more forgiving if you hit a rock or submerged log, etc. in that the prop will give before the lower unit does!

Re: Prop!!
I run a 25 pitch 14 1/2 on my Pro V 150....best I have gotten with full tanks and me/a cameraman in the boat is 63 mph at last years NG Delta. That was at 5500 RPM. I typically run about 55 at 4900 RPM....5k seems to get the gas guage headed south quickly!!
Re: Prop!!
i have a 25m spare for my 200 hpdi i would be willing to sell. Might be too much prop for that motor tho

Re: Prop!!
You can get them tuned right by a guy in Clearlake, But you need to go through a local Boat Shop to do it.
