great show! It was good to hear your outlook on rod building and your preferences with different baits.
quick question have you ever spiral wrapped a swimbait rod? any thoughts on doing so? I've noticed some rod twist with the bigger fish. I'm using Crucials,Okuma's,and a Kistler

Watched True Bass this morning, Gary great to see you out doin your thing. I know your a busy man, but how about doing your own show, " Real Bassin " with GARY D. I have a feeling a few people may watch. KB, love your shows too, they edit out all your fish ? or what.
You were probably just guiding for Gary. Ive been there too buddy.

Cant wait until my next kitchen pass !!

Gary, Great to see you getting out for some rehab
I was kinda hoping that new colored lucky craft would have been tied on by accident and we coulda had a sneak peek. The show was great, lots of helpful info and it was good to hear about your accident from your perspective. Thanks for everything you do for all of us in the fishing community.

Great question on spiral wraps. I did consider it, a lot really. Mike Long LOVES the wrap on his 795ML rod. The problem is there are too many anglers that don't understand, or refuse to think about change. I think we would've had a hard time selling them. Since I'm on the subject, the same applies to a Tennessee handle on a spinning rod. All my customs I've had made in Tennessee handle, but it's almost an impossible sale. Starting out, I could not try and push this kind of thing. However, I promise one day to at least dabble with both of these. Honestly, no one has been very successful yet. GREAT question, and thanks. Mike Long might write you a thank you note. He loves it. Sorry I hid the new Staycee color, I at least want to be first with it. Couldn't show KB.

So are certain blanks better to build on with a spiral wrap in mind?Gary Dobyns wrote:Great question on spiral wraps. I did consider it, a lot really. Mike Long LOVES the wrap on his 795ML rod. It took me a little while to get used to the Competitive Edge rods but I do like them I just wish they were longer!
I've got an old short light action Fenwick that has a Tennessee handle. I used to use it for skippin' small weightless plastics and panfish...great sensitivity!
