Oil oops...

Post by RyanThoni »

Today I went to top off my optimax oil reservoir and my larger jug.
The jug is semi-transparent and it looked liek there was still a little oil in it. I went to dump it in to the boat reservoir and about 1 or 2 ounces of nasty oily water dumped out into my reservoir. Hmmm, water must have gotten in somehow. Anyways, is just 1 or 2 ounces out of 2 gallons of oil a nono? I think it is, but I would hate to dump out 30 bucks of opti oil down at the kraigen recycle barrell.

Next trick is getting to boatmasters before they close tonight so I can still fish tomorrow.

Definitely dump all of your oil and start over. Well said by the folks earlier in the post better to loose $30 now than thousands later.

Done,
thanks guys
I figured I should. And HOLY $^#* that opti oil got EXPENSIVE!. 43 bucks for 2 gallons! Luckily my 135 opti does great on oil.

Next question:

I poured the messed up oil into a jug and the water separated to the bottom. Should I still get rid of it all?

You can take the bad oil down to one of those Jiffy Lube stores .... they'll dump it in their re-cycle tank for used oil ....
