Was out at DVL yesterday I caught my first smallmouth! and while cleaning my boat, dvl staff asked to place a tag (paper wrist band) with the date on it around my wench post and eye on the front of my boat. This is the trail run for dvl he said. Anyone else have this tag?
Oh great, they're doing the boat tag thing now?? Lemme tell ya its going to be great being a guide in the future when you cant fish several lakes in the same week! I understand the reasoning but im just saying, i have to be able to fish several lakes in one week! Nice smallie by the way....I got an 8 1/2 in the boat at Perris yesterday thats all i have to brag about lately i cant get on MV for a while.

Pictures are worth a thousand words!
I got the same thing put on my boat today. If it gets cut off before you go lake, its a mandatory inspection. At least they wont send you home for a mandatory length of time.
Now, the question is... will the other lakes accept the seals from other lakes??? DVL hasn't been found to be infected, so will Casitas or Cachuma accept the DVL tags??? Will Casitas accept the Cachuma or DVL tags???
We all are hopefull that, at some point, there will be cooperation between the bodies to allow for movement between venues. This is a good start, but I'm hoping that it will be sooner rather than later.

Glad to see some talk has already begun for the inspection seal we are working on. The picture displayed is our temporary seal that we are using as a product test to determine if the wristband type material will hold up for transport of boats. I have been the only one applying the seal so I can discuss the concept with our customers and get your feedback so don't take it personally if I miss you. The idea for the seal is to place it on boats that are leaving DVL so that if the seal is intact when you return we won't have to inspect the boat or live well areas. This will save time for everyone involved with the inspection process at DVL. If we seal a boat that goes to a different lake the seal will be void and that boat will need to be re-inspected. This program will not change our clean and dry policy nor will it effect our "dry times" for boats that have been to infested waters, but will allow our repeat customers easy, convent access to the lake. I don't know if other lakes will begin to recognize our seal but in the long run we hope to open the doors for that type of communication between lakes with inspection protocols.
Please let me know if you have any questions or comments about the concept-
Thanks, Jeff, to you and the rest of the DVL staff for trying to be as accommodating as possible under these uncertain circumstances. I think it's a great idea and am sure everyone who fishes DVL regularly will embrace and appreciate the process.

Great idea Jeff, maybe the lead by example idea will work here. I just visited your lake for the first time this week and found the lake amazing. If some of the other lakes here in So Cal see what you are doing and how well it works, maybe they will follow....who knows maybe then a coalition of a few lakes all under the same tag system, then maybe a bar code type system (embedded in the sticker) that could go on your registration sticker. That could track most of your travels from lake to lake. All of these ideas have discussed on this forum and they all seem like they could work, but baby steps and I think you guys are on the right course.
