Daiwa dead or alive lure?

Post by Hillbilly in Cali »

I was on line today looking for a place to send my daiwa fuego reel to be repaired and saw the daiwa dead or alive lure. Has anyone used it or have any thoughts on the bait?

Well, the two above positions come from anglers who are far more proficient than myself, but I will say that I bought one when they first came out and took it with me to Casitas and stuck a fish on one of the first casts... also picked up another a short while later. I haven't used it a lot since, as I'm still trying to become proficient with the myriad swimbaits that I've collected, but it certainly does present an unusual look that they don't often see.

Here's the two fish mentioned above:

It's that whole lens perspective thing... they were shot from a distance with a zoom lens, which compresses the perspective. Look how close the bank appears in the background...

I agree they don't appear to bear that out, but as I recall they were weighed on a handheld scale and were reasonably close. Regardless, I'll edit the values in the post. Thanks Jason.

Thanks for your thoughts. I am somewhat new to swimbait fishing and thought that a different bait may draw a few strikes from fish that see a Hudd, Castaic, and other baits on a daily basis.
