anybody know of a wacky o-ring rigger that'll do all senko sizes? or do I need to invent one?
7" senko o-ring?
7" senko o-ring?
just found out yesterday that my wacky o-ring rigger - the yellow one that looks like a whiffle ball bat - clearly doesn't take a 7" senko (no matter how hard you try to shove the senko in
)

Re: 7" senko o-ring?
wet your senko....or......the tube on adding machine tape/paper will do.
or use a 1/4" piece of 'shrink tubing'..
copy.
hook through the tubing....

Mike,
I made one specially for 7" Senkos out of a dried up Magic Marker. Many of the markers even have a tip that tapers down to make putting the o-ring on real easy.

what size o-rings are you using? -010 and -011 are supposed to be viable for the 5-6" but are way too small for the 7"
found someone who had been using the floral water tubes that attach to the end of flowers that come from the florists (note to self, get The Most Beautiful Woman in Puppetland some flowers), they have a nice taper for feeding o-rings onto the tube - and the tube should be big enough to fit a 7". drill the little end out and epoxy a screw in there to hold the loose o-rings like that metal wacky rigger does.

off to the garage to look for an old magic marker....
Re: 7" senko o-ring?
went over to Ace Hardware late Saturday afternoon with a 7" senko in my back pocket and dug thru the bin of o-rings looking for something to work with. Ended up with a package marked "#21" which was a 1/2" ID and 1/16" thickness - don't recall OD but it doesn't really matter, I was after an ID/thickness combo. 1/16" thickness ended up being just right, but the 1/2" was too loose pretty quickly with the senko just barely sliding around on the hook, thinking that 7/16" ID will be a better fit giving a little bit of cinching.
there is something called the AS568A chart which is used in the o-ring industry as the basis for sizing the o-rings
http://www.oringsusa.com/html/size_chart.html
so I'm on the hunt for a -013 o-ring later today, going to try to pull apart a magic marker and see how that works too
had a good day on the big ol' senko yesterday, both texas and wacky

Re: 7" senko o-ring?
latest update:
Mark-C's suggestion about the magic marker was money, works perfect and priced "just right". Used a yellow "Sanford Major Accent" highlighter that I had laying around as the test subject.
I took a pair of needlenose pliers and pulled the end cap off the magic marker pen, surprised that there was no wet ink floating around inside but instead there was a cigar shaped object holding the ink, pulled it out and laid it in a plastic bag along with the end cap. Then using the needlenose pliers I pulled the tip out, no loose ink there either. Threw the bag with the end cap, cigar, and tip into the trash. No mess at all, took all of 20 seconds to do.
Ordered a few o-ring samples that came in the mail yesterday, got samples of both the -012 and -013 sizes. Both sizes roll up onto the tube of the magic marker without any problem, in fact the regular orings that they sell in the tackle shops roll up onto the tube just fine too.
The -012 is a tight fit on the 7", the -013 is a good fit too, but with a hook under it and some tension on the line the -013 would prob show some daylight between the o-ring and the senko. I'm going with the -012 for the 7" via the magic marker
/end of project

Re: 7" senko o-ring?
I wet it or rub some attractant on the Senko - it's still a tight fit, but usually slides in the tube enough to get the ring on. You may then have to slide it up further with your fingers & the smelly jelly, or whatever you like to use, makes it easier.
Re: 7" senko o-ring?
go to hobby/craft store I went to Michaels bought a knitting needle size usa/35 white plastic. cut off for lenght wanted and then go to home depot plumbing and get size #8 o ring pkgs. Always wet needle with scent and slide on ring onto senko.
