Larry,

I've fished this lake for the past 25 years give or take. The lake is full of stunted spots and a few smallmouths. Largemouths are fairly rare here though they were plentiful in the eighties (82 to be exact). There is little feed in the lake for bass, therefore they don't seem to grow very big. I've fished numerous tournaments where fish averaged less than a pound apiece. It is a beautiful place, dont get me wrong. I've talked to some folks over the years as to why it is like it is. They tell me they won't plant shad there as they compete w/the kokanee for the plankton. I even heard a bass club tried to help the lake by planting a bunch of crawfish for food, but they planted the ditch crawfish that didn't seem to survive in this kind of lake. Thus, the fish are small, under 12". I've even seen some 12" fish spit up mosquito hawks in my livewell. Talk about no feed. It seems the lake is managed for Kokanee and the bass have to fend for themselves w/little to eat.

Hope this helps,

Phil

Beuatiful lake, itsy bitsy fish! Used to camp with my folks and some family friends every summer, sure miss those days!

Take a trip up there just to enjoy the lake, and you should have no prob sticking a whole mess of tiny spotted bass!

If you looking for another lake, try Englebright, the fish are bigger, but the water is frighteningly clear, make the longest casts possible or go in summer when the wakeboard boats stir up some mud on the fallen trees.

Here's a link. The official website. http://www.bullardsbar.com/ I thought bass grew big in trout lakes.

I used to fish Bullards Bar years ago. Like the rest, a lot of small spots. One of my greatest fishing trips was on Bullards Bar. My dad and I were fishing there in a rain and thunder storm about 8 years ago.We caught about 50 fish up the river arm. Over half were 2+ smallmouths. Not real big fish, but man was it fun. Real pretty lake, but don't go in summer, it is flooded with water skiers. Also the launch ramp is a hike, and I mean a hike.

I went there yesterday and ending up getting some Kokanee the water was 65 degrees the weather was nice we did not go for bass though, maybe next time my buddy got a 5lb bass there last week that is a very big fish for that lake.
