Bought a ranger with a lms480. I fish shasta most of the time and have a chip for the lake. i have noticed that when watching the GPS the trail actually goes off the lake and up onto the land! Which tells me that something is off.
Anyone else have this problem? any sugestions plz.
LMS480 off track?
What chip do you have?
I have the Fishing Hot Spots Elite - West map chip and it is awesome. If your unit came with the Map Create accessory pack, I would suggest creating your own map of Shasta and see how that works. If you did not get the accessory pack with your LMS-480, I would recommend getting Fishing Hot Spots Elite-West map chip. It only cost $100. Here's the link from the Lowrance website:

I have the..
Navionics hot maps 2003 edition reigon 8. But the thing is i dont think that it is the chips fault, even when i use it without the chip it still has us on land sometimes instead of the lake.

You need a program upgrade. You can send it to Lowrance.Or you can have Alen Fong at Fishermans Warehouse in Rocklin do it for you.It litterally only take 2 mins. Give him a call, he's the man when it comes to Lowrance electronics.(916) 415-0800
Bad Datum setting
Read this and see if it helps. Probably just the datum setting in your GPS unit.
