Bass Pro Shops to open store in Rancho Cucamonga in 2007

Post by socalbasser »

Just read a story from the Daily Bulletin in the Inland Empire that Bass Pro Shops is hoping to open a store in the Victoria Gardens mall area in 2007. Now you won't have to go to Las Vegas to visit a
local Bass Pro Shops.

Really BAD news

Post by rickyshabazz »

That would mean that the wife could go in one direction and you could go in the other, thus causing some major financial problems for the family.

I vote that we all protest this on account that our wives would opt to start going shopping with us. The tackle store was the last place my wife wanted to go. If this happens, she'll have no problem tagging along.

I'm having second thoughts already.

Without trying to bash

I'll try to post a perspective on this. When I heard BPS was coming to Las Vegas I was very excited. Since then my views have changed considerably. True, it adds sales tax to any order (even online catalog orders) when they have a retail outlet in your state. The other thing is it doesn't seem that the people stocking the store have an understanding of our local fishing. Meaning, no matter how many times I request it I can't seem to get them to stock enough dropshot weight & hooks. I know it's a small thing but it's a PITA to go there for 1/8 d/s weights & find one pack. It would really suck if you came from out of town to stock up. The other thing is I use a lot of Roboworms. They never have the ones I want in the size I want. I've requested certain ones on multiple occasions but have yet to see them in the store. It seems they have a LOT of the perfect baits if I was fishing in Texas, but I'm fishing in NV.
I talked to a guy I know who works there & he pretty much told me that they stock what is sent to them & don't have much control over it.
So for now I still go there about once a week but I don't count on getting what I really need from them. I order worms (Robo), weights, grubs (Yamamoto), jigheads, & all the stuff I use a lot of online. I'll still pick up fluoro there (I like the XPS) 'cuz they normally don't have more than one spool of a size in stock. At least I know it's fresh.
This isn't meant to pi$$ on them, It's just my real observations. I feel they could do a much better job of managing their store & meeting their customers needs.

They stock bubba bait

Post by BigJeff »

If they are to be successful selling bass fishing tackle, they will have to stock the store with western tackle. They will sell bubba bait like they do in all the other BPS stores, but those of us who want our specialty tackle will still be going to Angler's Marine and the other local tackle stores where we buy from now.

They are going to put a hurting on the local hunting and outdoor stores though.

I guess they're going to become the new Walmart (without the old half dead greeter at the door and the cute Orange "Cart Gobbler" Crew) BPS is setting up shop everywhere and putting the little guy out of business. I hate to think that its all about money. Hey Arte why dont we call it the (Los Angeles Bass pro shops of Rancho).

Well, as far as the tax thing...

There is already an APPROVED BPS coming to Manteca this year.......so the state tax will apply well before the RC store opens.

BPS

Post by Vern »

In a quick rebuttal to Vinny, you must be shopping at a different BPS than the one in Vegas. I know for a fact that will go out of their way to get special product in, for the anglers.Yes when they first opened they did not have a lot of West coast tackle. They just added a whole new section of ROBO they are in the process of getting a bigger selection of Yamamoto in as we speak. If any one is in the shop and can not find a product they are looking for go to the service counter and ask for a supervisor, believe me they will find it for you and if possible order it in. As to taking your wives to the BPS you better have a big credit card.Hope to see you on the water Vern

but, I am a Nerd any way you slice it... .but, I hear yah... Fishing doesn't help the problem either. To think I thought fishing was going to be cheaper than golf! Yikes!

If Noluk (George Fedor) keeps dragging me to the golf course I may end up going back to that sorry sport soon! Its surely a lot easier for me to make money in golf tournaments than it is making money in fishing tournaments!

I guess 5-6 days a week on a driving range and putting green for 10 years will do that. Give me 10 years of fishing time and maybe that will change.. Hmmmmm is there a Senior Fishing Tour?

I'm not trying to argue the point with you Vern. All I'm saying is I've asked for three items three different times since they opened & as of yesterday they hadn't gotten them. I guess I'll ask you to request them for me. I can't seem to get it done.
