Ron,

I hope to be in if I can get inspected in time. That is why I started the other topic about what number they were on with the inspection process. If at all possible, I will be there.

I would love to, but unfortunately my lights don't work on my boat, and I am just too busy to rewire everything. However if I could team up with someone I would go? Any offers? PM me..

smpboy.. If they get infected I am guessing that they will close the lake down to everyone. This reservoir is run by a bunch of upity idiots. They always react first and then think later. I have lived up here a long time. Hech.. they still think they are going to get Steelhead to spawn up the Ventura River again, and that hasn't happened for over 40 years.. If Casitas wasn't so close to where I live I would be fishing somewhere else.. It really wouldn't be worth the hassel otherwise..

They did stay on topic. The 2 folks who can get on the lake will fish it. It is a locals/private lake now. I know lots of folks worked very hard for everyone to be able to fish but it just weasn't in the cards. TBH, this has to be a dream come true for some folks regarding the current Casitas situation.

Hope you all get a great draw... the pool is probably going to be pretty limited, but hopefully that won't prevent a good draw.

Noluk, since you Hippie and Tunaman insist on the usual poor me attitude on this site concerning Casitas and could not help yourselves from changing the topic , let me make a few corrections . First off , as usual Hippie can not help himself from being the usual sarcastic donky hole and feels he needs to reply in a negative manner on almost any post that does not concern him . My post had a simlpe question and asked to keep it on topic . I guess he was neglected as a child and needs the attention . Tuna man as usual just couldent help himself but to chime in as well . Noluk , as for your statement , the lake is there for anybody that chooses to fallow the rules . You dont like it tough ! Its not a (locals ) only lake . As for me , I choose to fish Casitas to escape guys like yourself , loud mouths with no curtesy to others . I am not one of those( locals) you all like to refere to . I drive 91 miles one way dude . I pass Castaic, Pyramid, and Piru . I chose to do so becouse of the reason stated earlier . I will play by the rules , if you choose not to fine , keep your crying and winning to yourselves . Most of us are tired of hearing about it .
If you would like to reply , as I know you wont be able to help yourselves , do it PM , I will not bitch fest with you on the forum .

Sorry you took exception to my post... I take exception to your statement about me "as usual" couldn't help myself... I challenge you to do a search on my posts and see how many positive contributions I make to this site. Lighten up and get a grip... not sure why you feel so compelled to attack, but please get it in check.

Seems like my other response was on topic and positive...

Look at usanglerschoice.net.
From what I was told , if you show up for an inspection , with or without an appointment you can get one . I dont think they are making anymore calls . Its up to you to knock on the door .

You can go to www.usanglerschoice.net

Once there go to region 2.

Then click on Casitas nights.

It is an awesome fishery at night. It looks like I will hopefully be there. I get inspected on Tuesday and hope to pass. Then I will barely make it. I'm ready to donate.

Smittyfish.. I got inspected onthe 24th & am hoping to get some lights on my boat before the deadline. I am sure Casitas has some great night fishing. I have real good luck in the mornings there. Is this a team thing or do you have to fish alone? What is the deadline to enter?

I should have my lights straightened out by July anyway. So I will bring it or I could team up with someone else if they need a mate...

I don't know abou tthat, Hippie.. there have been a lot of boats passed inspection. The turnout might be pretty good. However, I do know that if you got a boat that can enter the lake you won't have a problem finding a team mate.

Negative attitude eh? Wonder why. How many lakes have "closed" in Socal in response to the quagga situation. You may not consider it a closed lake but for 90% or more of the anglers in Socal it has closed. It is a dream situation(not your tournament turnout.. that is goign to be brutal) for most anglers with probably less than 20 boats fishing on any given day? How many boats do you see on a weekend with decent weather. NOW I am off topic from the original post.

But in response to it, I feel bad for Jim Reyes, the lake and Angler's Choice. Night tournaments cost a fortune to run. Normally a good turnout can defray those costs and still provide a decent payout. Unless most of the locals with approved 1 lake boats decide to fish the series, it will be a tough event to run.

Now on to address your issues of telling me what to post. I haven't attempted you from posting your thoughts on Stony's boards, what moderator power gives you the urge to do it to me. I didn't respond until you told people to lay off Casitis and stay on topic. The topic at hand is not your wishes and commands. The topis is the potential number of anglers fishing an Angler's Choice tournament. If you do not agree with an opinion on these boards you can take it as their perspective even if it differs with what you feel. I accept that you are excited about your fishing at Casitias. But as far as these board go... there are far more of us SoCal anglers who can't fish it than their are those who can. And the vast majority of the people fishing it are doing it under a set of circumstances and rulings by a water board that I do not agree with. I do feel that there are some people who are currently fishing Casitas who are happy with and accept the current lake regulations and are benefiting from them. So be it. I am not. You are free to post how wonderful it is to fish the lake and how great the fishing is at any time as far as I am concerned. The larger majority of of the people fishing Casitias are local to the area and all have either given up fishing other lakes or have more than one boat. Those are options for some but certainly not most of us.

TBH posting about Casitias is less in the intrest of the average SoCal fisherman than any other posting by the rest of the anglers who are enjoying the rest of the water in Southern California.

I understand how you feel, noluk. I was certainly peaved till I passed my inspection. Heck my boat is cleaner now that it was when I bought it. I guess that is one good thing coming from this panic. With the prices of gas, and the lake entrance fees on the rise everywhere it is getting difficult for most of us to take a fishing roadtrip towing a boat. hopefully the panic effect at Casitas will subside, and it will be easier for everyone to get in. I miss seeing a lot of the fishermen that I was used to seeing there. I don't however miss the Jet boats, and the big party ski boats that have pretty much just gone elsewhere. I haven't been on the lake since I passed my inspection, but will be after June 3rd. I am hoping that I can fish there without without some jet boat waking me out of wack while I'm trying to fish & enjoy the zen of just being on the lake.

As for the night tourny. I can't make it for the 14th, but am planning on attending for the one in July. I have never entered a night tourny, and am looking forward to having a good time.

I used to love fishing at different lakes all the time, but with the gas prices I really can't affort to toat my boat too far anymore.

Just my 2 cents worth..

I was just joking. I figured I better say that before everyone gets their panties in a wad.

I think the draw will be better than expected since it is the only circuit fishing at night at Casitas. Last year there were a few different orgs fishing at night there. But I think the draw will surprise a lot of people.

I'm no local. I have three lakes that are closer to me than Casitas.
But the fishing is so good that I have to get there for the nights. DVL is also great, but the drive is way too far. I'm in the same position as Ron T. That body of water is off the hook.

My first thoughts about the BS at Casitas really ticked me off like alot of other guys, and my feelings were at no point in time should the lake even be publisized any more. No fish reports in the WON, nothing. Just like they dont exist. But since they have at least shown some effort to get it back open I have changed my attitude. But what really cooks my goose is the guys that go on the computer and pump private lakes great fishing when the regular public cant go. Just enjoy things and keep it to yourself. Sherwood, Westlake, MVL, Silverlakes, Vail. The fish on those private ponds are STUPID 99% of the time. Want to be impressive IMHO, go where everyone else has to go and stroke-em. Sorry for the rant. Casitas is far from being private and we are definatly not stroking em . Tough deal right now , at least for the day bite without shad . Just my choice of water . If Diamond was closer I would be there . Also a great fishery .

The differance MAY be this . Lots of guys are bitter about the current situation which is totally understandable . If I were ( like many of you ) chasing points and competing in tournaments like I was a couple years ago and enjoyed Casitas ( like many of you ) I would also be really bent . Im kind of bent rigt now do to the fact the bite sucks and cant go where the bite is good . BUT ! at this point in time I choose not to becouse of the solitude that Casitas offers me and any body else. Its not always about sticking fish . Now Im sure there will be a time Im going to want to fish tourneys again and not being able to go from Casitas to DV, Cachuma , Pyramid or Castaic on any given day is also going to suck so I will have to belly up like the rest. Currently Casitas may seem like a private lake to some (by choice )and yes its pretty cool being able to fish almost any given spot at leasure for now , but why not take advantage of it while its there . Once again its not private or a locals only lake but rather a lake with lots of elbow room . Looking forward to seeing you all there on the 14th.

The problem with it, Ron, is that once you're on you're locked in, period. It is far too distant (140 miles) for me to do regular day trips, and can't afford to drive to Casitas every other weekend with or without the motorhome at the current price of gas. Now with the situation there, I can't even work it into the schedule every other month or so, as I did previously. Glad some of you can, as it is certainly my favorite lake.

I totaly understand , Im living it , as far as the driving and being locked in on one lake . 182 miles round trip at 5.29 a gallon and 17.1 miles to the gallon .It does kinda suck but for now I really enjoy the night series . I could fish the Castaic nights but what fun is a limit of 2.5 pounders and getting your but kicked by wakeboarders by day . I just hope the fish decide to play after the sun goes down!

Pick it

Post by Guy Williams »

I wish the state would make each of us pick one lake to fish and/or boat in, that way the boats can't spread the quagga. Pick it and stick with it, for at least a year or two. The quagga is way too easy to spread the way they have it now.
