launching out of garcia bend and bassin' nearby?

Post by tiki_man »

i live about two miles from garcia bend park in the pocket area of south sac but have never launched there nor have i ever even fished the immediate area. with gas prices being what they are, i figure i better look into it :D

anyway, we often take walks up on the levee there and we see fishermen jigging or trolling for salmon and stripers but we never see bass boaters plugging or casting for largemouth/smallmouth bass. are they there? any tips? i'm specifically wondering about the sacramento river right around garcia bend. thanks for any info.

There is some SM up there. Probably some LM too. Didnt KB and Ike do a show up there somewhere?

I know that there are LMB,SMB, and Spots up and down the Sacramento River as I have caught them in the Sac, American, and of course the Delta.

Go out and look for breaks in the current and other areas where a bass would not have to work much to get an easy meal. Very similar to the Dealta with the diffrecne being there is always current moving down stream. It is not based on the tides.

Thiers alot of good bassin in the Sac,American and up north in the slues and the Feather river. on the Sac river look for wing damms fish those. also the rock walls.
When you fish it try Tubes, Senko,s Worms. Cranks and Spinnerbaits, Jigs.
