New to No Cal from So Cal???????

Post by SKTR 20i »

In the process of moving to Benicia from Anaheim and was wondering where the closest (good) launching facility is from Benicia that has fresh water on the Delta?? I have launched many times from Russo's and Sugar Barge when here on vacation, but that is pretty far from Benicia.

Thanks, John.

For the Delta - You can check out Brandon Island St. Park -- It is right there on 3-mile slough and just North of Fisherman's Cut. Bhalzar buys the yearly pass and I believe it is only $150.

There is also B&W on Hwy 12 along with a couple of others.

Best part is that they are all on that side and you won't have to pay bridge toll.

Lakes - there is Barryessa, Sonoma, and Spring that come to mind.

Isn't the ramp in Rio Vista still free? The last time I launched there in 1975 it was. Just go towards Fairfield and take Hwy 12 east.

Getting the States Park Pass is worth it, gets you into Orroville, Brannon Island, Folsom and a few other local lakes for free. It is a Calendar year pass though, so perhaps something to consider for next year.

For the first time launching out of Russo's is a great facility and you got the Hook right there to fill up your baits with

I am also a SoCal transplant for about 2.5years and the I only regret that I have is that I didnt move up here sooner.

Not sure if I'm reading this right, but the pass is good for one year from the month you buy it in. If you get one early in any given month you can get 13 months out of them. If I remember right the combined cost on the annual parking and launch pass is $165. Worth every penny if your lucky enough to get out a lot.

The ramp in Rio is no longer free. And during high tides, you get your feet wet walking the gangplank, it is under water! I had to mention it because it is the stupidest feature I have ever seen at a ramp.

The way I am reading it -- There is a $125 fee for a dayuse pass to all state parks ... and a $75 fee for the boat pass according to this link ~~> http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1047

And this one for the boat pass ~~> http://store.parks.ca.gov/detail.aspx?ID=186

More info here and it sayes that the passes are good for one year from date of purchase ~~> http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1049
ANNUAL BOAT USE PASS

The Annual Boat Use Pass is a small sticker that is placed on the Annual Day Use hang tag or the Golden Poppy Annual Day Use hang tag or a separate card for those who already have their passes and for Golden Bear Pass users.

Each vessel, sailboat or personal watercraft (PWC) is considered its own unit for utilization of the boat launching facilities. A fee is assessed for each vessel upon entry to the park. This pass waives boat launching fees for motorized vessels and for sailboats over 8'. If the craft is a sailboat that is under the length limit and is not motorized, no boat launch fee is assessed; therefore, no Annual Boat Use Pass is needed.

To purchase an Annual Boat Use Pass, please visit us at the California State Parks Store.

Note: Lost or stolen passes cannot be replaced and no refunds can be issued.

G-man, I was born in Hollywood and grew up in the Santa Clarita area. Canyon Country to be exact. Been up here for almost 12 years now. Wife got pregnant had to get out of L.A. county. I used to work at the lower lake at Castiac when I was in high school. Pushed an ice-cream cart around.

If you get the Golden Poppy pass it's $90. That plus the $75 for the launch pass equals $165.

DON'T DOUBT THE DINKMASTER  .
