An Open Invitation to Ray L.

Post by GKramer »

If you have time, would you please allow me to join you for a morning of fun fishing on the SoCal pond of your choice!

I'll bring cameras and tackle. We could do an on-the-spot report for the paper.

Everyone knows my email address: kramersez1@aol.com.

Looking forward....

Thanks!

Awesome George! Now that's what I want to hear!

Post by Topwater Terry »

I hope you take him up on his offer Ray! Great Pub. for your sponsors, and besides, I have been reading George's articles for years. I regard him as one of the greatest authorities on Western Bass fishing. And if you get to meet him, you'll love his attitudes about those clowns up North and their "north state record bass!" Hope you take him up on his offer.

Yeah Ray take him up on his offer...

Post by socalbasser »

I agree with Topwater Terry, take George Kramer up on his offer....I'll bet he only offers a select few a chance to hear his myriad of stories and antidotes. If not, it will definately be a lost opportunity.

Cool, A Free Guide Trip

Post by Guy Williams »

Just remember what he thinks of Federation guy's. No good and should not be allowed in the Classic. Some how a western guy from WON BASS is better. I never saw a WON BASS guy win the mighty crown of top dog(yet that is). I'll go sit down now, I have to drink two with that open invitation.

Now that you are a NEW member George....

Post by Kelly Ripa »

Why don't you two send a couple of PM's to one another and take this out back and off of the forum! I think Ray will be happy to give you a buzz without it becoming a spectator sport.

Northern Clowns...

Post by sTony »

Yeah right. I'm not sure what the reference means or who originally made it but last time I looked 'Northern Clowns' on the pro bass tours included Skeet Reese, Gary Klein, Ish Monroe, Mark Tyler, Mark Rizk, Mike Reynolds, Robert Lee, Dave Gliebe, Greg Gutierrez, Michael and RJ Bennett, Fred Roumbanis, Zack Thompson. Better then half the Everstart field comes from Northern California.

Reese, Monroe, Reynolds, Gutierrez and Klein are all 2006 Classic Qualifiers AGAIN.

Whoever made the reference must be a clown themselves, hahaha.

Kelly, you're next. (Please wear your sponsor shirt.)

And Tony, if one's only claim to fame is where he lives--he has no claim.

Wear my sponsor shirt?

Post by Kelly Ripa »

The Reader's Digest version of this answer : What sponsor's shirt would that be? I've been paying my own way since I started fishing and I don't fish tournaments....at least anymore. No story here! Sorry, I'm pretty vanilla, just a guy who fishes and posts reports on my local lake when/if I can get out or voice an opinion on tackle tweeks etc....I work in aerospace and couldn't have any other obligations as I am on call a lot and besides You'sta waser's are a dime a dozen in the fishing industry....Sure I can sell sand to Arabs and Refrigerators to Eskimos but ....My real job will always be in the way.

Oh come on Kelly

Post by Shawn R. »

You mean to tell me its not worth a few free baits and 10% above cost on anything in the catalog? Come on man? Get a sponsor and wear your shirt with pride! Hey, you can also stand for 12 hours at the Fred Hall booth wearing your custom stitched shirt!!!

Actually no Shawn.

Post by Kelly Ripa »

It's not worth my limited time. I don't care what baits cost and I'd rather be decompressing on the lake than anything else. Bass fishing is my only outlet and I decided this year to remove all pressures from it. I did the same back in 89 when some jackass cut out my oil injection line while I was eating lunch at the Cachuma Marina. It was a good move as it allowed me to explore the options and to quit fishing for those five bites and really learn about what was seasonally going on under my feet. I like to think that this is what enabled me to become a more "rounded out " angler as prior to that I didn't have much to fall back on when times were tough. Now I don't have enough time in a day to do all the things I'd like to. Staying on one lake has really been important to my overall sucess rate on any lake as I don't worry so much about the "where are they" and can concentrate more on the "why are they". The pursuit of the bigger fish in the lake has also taken me to different places than you would if you were looking for five bites. So really I don't have time for what some would call perks as they don't seem to me that they would return the same satisfaction as the being in the hunt. If I could make a living at this would I? Even though from time to time I entertain the thoughts of guiding.I guess I answered that question when I refused to take over the family business at Clearlake. It was to much for to little when I did the math....But in retrospect.............I am working poor here in Santa Barbara but again in is by choice. Hardheaded  You bet.

I was joking but i hear ya!!

In an effort to challenge myself, im back fishing tournaments. Im enjoying the challenge of putting keeper fish in the boat with 50 other boats on Perris. The bigger fish however, always come on a fun fish day with a beer in one hand!!! Why is that???

Kelly,

You and Ray really have a good offer there. I was wondering if you knew how the bite was out at Cachuma? I am thinking of heading over there in a couple of weeks and just wanted to know how the bite was.

Good Fishing,

Kelly,

I didn't know you work in the aerospace industry. I use to work in the industry. The company C&D Aerospace serviced the commercial industry. I spent about 5 short years as a electronic tech and it was fun, but very stressful and I mean very stressful. There is something about aerospace industry that is so exciting.

Landsat 7.Landsat7+, Mars Observer,Pmirr,Themmis, Seawifs,Modis,Trimm, GMS5,Jammi,Tes,Mini Tes,Terra 7, VIRRS To name a few. Scarrey thing to have 180+ million bucks in your hand with only one shot to get something right....I just ground a 3 axis shim for the Virrs Rotating mirror assembly that had no deviation :D I can breathe now right? I find myself wasted most days after that kind of stress. Here is the fun part....Life expectancy is less than that of an Air Traffic Controler.... :!: Stress :!: ...Ah well I'd like to think I've made a differance but as we say in the business....Nobody will rember this in 7 years...Crowning achivement  I had four instruments that I worked on all working at the same time on Mars last year....I'll see if I can top it in the years to come but Raytheon is in the business of managing people and the work is now just a by-product. It was Great when it was S.B.R.S. and it was still okay when Hughes had us then GM had to come in and really scatter the talent and now we're just a bunch of micro-managed   Trogladites    anybody want to blackmail me here is your chance  Actually I'm well known here as being the loose cannon that sez what he means and calls em the way he sees 'em....Dave Nichols where ever you are....You are one lucky SOB as they will find me slumped over on the job someday....But not to soon :P

Larry I've heard there is a killer bluegill bite on right now  but they just aren't hammering the topwater and swimbaits as they did last year. Robo worm oxblood light red flake in 25+ feet will get you SOME action but I guess we will have to see what the FALL brings us.

See ya on the water....sept 10th is the soonest Anglers Marine can look into my Engine problems :x ! Jeez it's only the alternator good thing it's nothing to big!
