Re: SD Saltwater Bass Showdown Sunday Shelter Island Sunday
This is a great tournament series. There's a ton of talent and that makes the competition tough.
The cash payouts are growing and with a little more participation, I think that we will see some nice checks coming from these events.
With all of the lake closures looming, it's nice to see bass fishing spread out to the salt water in the local bays.
Rod and Reel Radio will be there for a live broadcast at the Shelter Island launch ramp.
Keep up the good work, John!

Phil and I (Team dirty pharmer) will be there in hopes of securing AOY for this series....along with a great bbq afterwards, these are tons of fun, John does a great job running these events because of his freshwater tourney experience....payouts are the same too......1 in 5 and no comp boats with option stuff also. Very low in entry cost compared to the freshwater tourneys, I've done the freshwater thing for years and years (oh I'm not done for good) but with the recent popularity in saltwater bass tourneys, I'm sold and can't get enough saltwater fishing in! Matter of fact I just went down to prefish Point Loma Kelp a couple days ago swung outside and caught a nice Bluefin Tuna and literally slayed the nice Calico's at the Coronado Islands on the way back in using ripbaits and swimbaits....continued the day catching more Calico's at Point Loma Kelp and finished the day slaying Spotted Bay Bass on spinnerbaits in SD harbor.....way too many options outside of the fresh, but best of all is the relatively low cost (my skiff has a 70hp Suzuki 4-stroke and I burned 20 gallons doing 110 miles plus and idled while stopped the whole day) you gotta get in the salt too!

Re: SD Saltwater Bass Showdown Sunday Shelter Island Sunday
are you the guy I spoke to at the Castaic ramp about these tournaments that told me you go 70 miles offshore in that 17 foot aluminun boat you were using that winter day?
Re: SD Saltwater Bass Showdown Sunday Shelter Island Sunday
not me, but I do run 50 or so miles depending on the weather and my boat is a 18ft C/C. I'm pretty much prepared for whatever may happen.fishinman wrote:are you the guy I spoke to at the Castaic ramp about these tournaments that told me you go 70 miles offshore in that 17 foot aluminun boat you were using that winter day?
